Sorry pnthr4life, I did not mean you were complaining. It was a generalized statement not geared towards one person. I can remember reading about how the Ludlow fans(in general) did not feel their girls bball program was getting any respect after winning 20+ games. IMO, a team does not gain any respect getting beat by 20 or more even if they are suppose to.

 

I don't think by scheduling Boone/Ryle etc it makes your program better when you lose by such a margin. It may give your players a sense of what they need to do to get better but lets face it a coach can not teach athletic ability and the bigger schools usually have that for the most part where the smaller schools play w/a big heart and alot of desire to succeed. These players have my respect for getting on the floor and trying as hard as they can.

 

Well this is the first time I been able to get on here in a few days, and I must say there are a few post on here that I would like to respond too. However the part I bolded, answers the question you been saying on here. Yeah they might not beat a team like Boone Co. However for them to know how the best teams play, they need to be able to go against these types of teams. There is no reason to only schedule teams you know for sure you can beat like you said. I mean they have done that the last two years, it really does not do much for you after awhile. After Ludlow gets done playing these NCC, Boones, and Holmes teams in the next week, Ludlow will know EXACTLY what they have to do to get to that level and things they need to work on...I mean this game is the game I really didn't expect for them to win, but as someone else said I am surprised by how big of a margin it was. Ludlow showing that maybe they aren't quite ready yet, however by playing these teams, it will help them get ready. I know I REALLY HOPE Ludlow gets to see NCC again in the region. And well I really hope Ludlow can avoid Boone Co for as long they possibly can in the region.

No apology necessary UNC-5. I have read some of those same posts regarding the Ludlow girls not getting any respect. I believe that schools like Ludlow, Bellevue and others are repected amongst the schools that are similar in size or even a little bigger. I don't know if playing those big schools is a good idea or not. Personally I don't think I would schedule them, but thats not for me to decide. I do think that bad losses such as this one can leave a lasting impression on kids.

There's a lot of different levels of HS ball and this score proves it.
