Paintsville will play next Thursday, the 31st at 10:30am against the 6th region winner.

Landon Slone, put back a missed shot at the buzzer, in regulation to tie the game and send to 1st OT. Pikeville led the entire way, by 10-12 and up 9, at start of 4th quarter.

 

Pikeville stayed in zone in 1st OT and Paintsville held, for 2 mins or so.

 

Slone finished with 29pts.

Pikeville beat Shelby Valley and almost beat Paintsville. Is Pikeville really good or did Valley and Paintsville just have off nights?

People across the state will get to see the best player in the mountains at the ALL "A"(Slone).

Not to put a damper on a great night for both these teams, but I watched Pikeville on TV when they played June Buchanan and was not the least bit impressed with them. Did they just have a bad game that night?

Pikeville has played a very, very tough schedule. They are 11-7 but the 7 teams that have beaten them have a combined record of around 101-20. I also watched the June Buchanan game and JBS is really only about 10 points better than Pikeville. The final margin was a fluke and a bad case of running up the score. (JBS has a bad history of that.) I think Pikeville has a legitimate shot at winning the 15th!

Outside of playing Male, Trinity, and Shelby Valley I don't think Pikeville's schedule is that tough. The majority of teams they have played are from the 15th. They did step out and play a couple of Louisville teams in the Western Hills tourney.

Sounds like great effort tonight from both teams. I hope Pikeville gets over the hump come region time. I'd like to see them at Rupp in March!

Pikeville has one quality win on the season and that was against Shelby Valley. Every other good team that they've played they have lost to:

 

Dobyns-Bennett - Lost by 15

Male - Lost by 28

Trinity - Lost by 24

June Buchanan - Lost by 46

Shelby Valley - Lost by 15

Paintsville - Lost by 3

 

Pikeville has yet to prove that they can play with anyone good outside the 15th...
