Corbin beats Central by 3. Boy, next week's rankings are going to be a tough one to do.

Pineville beat Harlan at Lynn Camp for the 13th Region All "A" tournament championship, 60-38.

 

I don't know if you all have noticed it, but Pineville has only played a total of 6 at home out of the 21 they have played so far. Something to take into consideration. I just noticed this myself.

 

Congratulations Mountain Lions! I believe this is the first 13th Regional All "A" they have won.

1. South Laurel....Coach Wright is the only man with a Ring

2. Pineville.....Beat four teams this week to win the ALL A

3. Corbin, Jackson,Knox Central.....they are all about equal

6. Cumberland....strugglin now but will come out of it.

7. Clay Co....may play harder than any team in the 13th

8. North Laurel...Seidal is the Regional MVP

Clay and North play at Scott County tommorrow at 12:45 p.m. Should be a dandy.

If the Hounds would have lost by only five or 10, I would feel better at putting them at No. 1.

South beat Bell by 18 or 19 tonight at Bell.

Also, South beat No. 1 Whitley 49-39 on the girls side and that means for the second straight week both my boys and girls No. 1 teams lost.

That's never happened before.

I think Corbin is better too, but South has a Wizard on the sidelines and his co-pilot is pretty smart as well....plus South killed the Hounds in Gillliam gym. Til someone beats South again they are the defending Champions.

It actually didnt make any sense ranking Knox Central number one this week, considering they struggled the way they did last week with single digit wins at home against 2 mediocre teams (Cawood and Middlesboro) Move Cumberland to 4th after blowing Cawood, Bell and Harlan out recently and now the Skins loose by 2 to an ecellent 18-2 Pineville team in overtime and all of a sudden they are the 6th best team in the region?The WYMT crew has Cumberland 7th in the Mountains and if they had been able to hold on to 4th quarter leads (Hazard and Pineville) they might be as high as 2nd or 3rd in the WYMT poll. Cumberland was in position in the 4th quarter of both games to win after not even coming close to playing their best basketball so even though they let a couple get away there are a lot of teams that wont want to have to play the Skins come March.

Cumberland's top 3 scorers (Wilson, Johnson and Leisge) were a combined 9 for 35 Thursday night with Leisge having the worst night 3 for 17. 9 for 35 is 23%, how often do you believe that is going to happen? and the thing is they still had a 5 point lead with 4 minutes to go in the game and didnt score another point, how often do you think that will happen? I dont agree with your reasoning on all of this, but that is what makes this a great country we all have the right to our own opinion, bottom line is it really doesnt matter where you have them in your poll because what happens on the floor the rest of the year will speak for itself. As for putting Knox Central #1 after struggling against Cawood and Middlesboro how do you really explain that?? Are you just trying to get your poll to match Cantrall or Litkenhaus, polls that reward teams for running scores up on weaker teams, something Cumberland has not done one time this year, but the exact opposite, they have taken it easy on teams every time they have beaten a team bad by going DEEP into their bench early and often! Cumberland is down to 10 players now due to injuries and players quitting, but they had 15 dressing for most of the year and they all played in every blowout win taking potential 30 to 40 point wins and turning them into 15 to 18 point wins and therefore killing their ranking in the power polls! having said all of that, I do realize the Skins have got to get their act together soon or they will be home again in March earlier than they want to be

As for poor shooting by the Redskins, not only is Lynn Camp's gym not very good but Pineville usually holds their opponents to low percentage shooting. If you look at some of the final scores on their schedule they are typically very low scoring games. On any given night Pineville could beat Cumberland just like Cumberland could beat Pineville. Both of these teams are top 13th region teams. After the loss to Pineville, Cumberland should bounce back and by the end of the season could be ranked higher again (maybe even higher than Pineville).

And yet when Knox Central wins in less than blowout fashion you consider it struggling.

 

I've noticed Knox Central has no fans on BGP and a lot of their really good wins go unnoticed and undiscussed. Maybe I'll promote them a bit. I hardly see a three point loss to Corbin on their home floor as a reason to write 'em off.

We need to find a way, to get BGP introduced in the Knox Central area.
