I have a couple of things, one I think that Les can rank them better than anyone, and that's why I never question them, because he does OUTSTANDING coverage of the 13th region and represents these athletes on Bluegrass Preps WELL...

 

Another thing is I saw a post about the Lynn Camp gym not being up to par...I for one LOVE this gym and I think it's a very hard place to play for teams, as well as Pineville, Pinevilles is a very old barn, but I don't see the problem with the gyms I really love them both.

I know les and his staff see more 13th Region teams than any other official publication in the Region. They have a pretty good handle on what is going on from week to week.

 

On this Lynn Camp gym issue. I believe it is regulation size. The rims are still 10' off the ground. There is nothing wrong with the lighting (ala Evarts!!!). Just because fans don't like the gym, don't give Cumberland an excuse for losing.

 

Cumberland is a good team....no where near great. I think Pineville would beat them 8 out of 10 games.

 

Here is my opinion on a 13th Region top 10 for this week...

 

1 - Pineville (they earned it - proved me wrong for sure)

2 - South Laurel

3 - Corbin

4 - Knox Central (I think Knox Central will win the region)

5 - Jackson County

6 - Cumberland

7 - Clay County

8 - North Laurel

9 - Bell County

10 - Whitley County

I think Les will confirm that he's second in games seen in the 13th Region. I agree though that the ratings are solid week in and week out.

 

Nothing against Pineville, but I think Cumberland would win at least half of the games against Pineville. Cumberland gave the game away with poor execution down the stretch and a questionable strategy.

From what I saw, Cumberland led by 5 with four minutes left in regulation and went into stall mode way too early. The Skins had all of the momentum and then decided to slow things down.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking away from the fact they made it to the finals, but who did they really knock off to get there besides a down B-Ville team? Harlan also lost to Red Bird a couple of weeks ago after KILLING Red Bird at Harlan...Don't see Harlan as a top ten team...Just me though, not knocking this Harlan team at all, a bunch of classy guys and hard working players, nothing but respect.:thumb:

From what I have heard, questionable strategy, probably; questionable officiating, definitely.

 

Someone please enlighten me on this issue. I heard that Pineville shot 25 free throws to Cumberland's 10. I also heard that Day's nose was bleeding for a 5-6 minute stretch and the officials would not bring him out of the game. It was told that blood was on his uniform, and possibly on others. Whether this is true, I don't know because I wasn't there. It sounds pretty bad, though.

I saw the refs take Day out with the blood situation. You probably need to be at the game.

Day came over to the sideline and grabbed a towel and seemed to fix the problem. I didn't notice any blood on his uniform, but a little could have been there.

There is always questionable officials right? That is the best thing to do is blame the officials or at least the easiest. Day did not bleed for five or six minutes, but yeah he did get his nose busted by a Cumberland player on a play where no foul was called. He went to the bench got the bleeding stopped and came back in.

 

I don't know HDE....Les' staff covers Barbourville, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, North Laurel, South Laurel, Corbin, Whitley County, and Williamsburg. That is seven high school teams in the the 13th Region. You know of someone who covers more than that?

I've seen everybody in the region except OBI and Whitley with six games last week, including two on Saturday afternoon, not counting the JV and freshmen games. It's not any major accomplishment in the big scheme of things, but nobody sees more high school basketball.

Awesome, then you know Cumberland is overrated then. Pineville has the best backcourt and the best Center (Brumback from JC is good too though). I think they deserve to be number one now. By the way, I have seen OBI and Whitley....along with every other team except Evarts play this year. I don't think it is necessary to catch an Evarts game this season.

It will be your last chance on Evarts.

 

From an overtime game you can decide Cumberland is overrated and Pineville is No. 1? They look pretty even to me. Pineville is coming off a big win though so I could see them at No. 1. I'll pick Cumberland to win the rematch though.

 

Where were you when the one poster said Pineville only had two guys who could start for Lynn Camp? I don't/didn't agree with that by the way.
