Kirk stepped up huge for Walton in this game. Jones shot the ball good, like normal. Up and down game, and each team made run's. Walton just held on till the end to come out on top. Ponzer seemed to share the ball a lot more in this game than past. I think I only had him down for a few shots tonight. Glad to see the boy's get a win and move to the next round. Sullivan had some nice shot's in this game also. Seem's like he will be a special player in a few years. Trimble impressed me again tonight. I thought the first time they beat Walton at Walton, it was just a crazy upset, but watching them play tonight again, they are better than what you would expect. At least the Trimble girls are going to Richmond!

If they don't complain about the officiating then they will just publicly complain about our coach and the decisions that "she/he" makes. It's nice that we have the ability to express our opinions on BGP however when one is in a position such as stats, scorebook, clock, etc...it is best that they keep their opinions about the coaches to themselves. The word "Loyalty" should enter the picture somewhere. Sorry.....I digressed.

Oh one other point, that is why I keep the book to support the coaches. It is not my position to question or degrade someone for what they feel is the right move. I enjoy watching the teenagers grow both as players but more as productive young adults. :mad:

The second quarter saw Walton come out on a 10-2 run for the first three minutes and quickly jumped out in front of Trimble 30-18 halfway through the quarter. Trimble County had cut the lead to 7 with less than minute to go in the half. The half ended with Walton up 35-25

 

Megan Stewart from Trimble County won the ClassX Free Throw Challenge making 4 shots.

 

Third quarter saw Trimble County draw back within 4 points on back to back 3 pointers by Larry Sullivan. Trimble trailed after the 3rd quarter by 4, 48-44. Trimble took the lead at the 6:30 mark in the 4th quarter with a Christian Courtney stick back. Walton retook the lead 2 minutes later on a 3 by Scott Kirk. Trimble got back to back 3’s by Cory Curtis and Cory Turner to give Trimble a 57-53 lead with 3:42 to go, but with right at a minute to go, Walton’s Vance Sullivan hit a straight away 3 to break a 57-57 tie and go up 3, 60-57. Trimble scored a Kidwell bucket retained possession with 1.4 seconds to go and the ball under their own basket. After a Trimble time-out, Walton was able to keep Trimble from scoring and took the game 60-59.

 

Walton will face the defending 8th Region champs, Gallatin County on Friday night at 6:00pm. Trimble County will face St. Francis on Tuesday 1/29/08.

Those days are long gone where have you been?:laugh: I can go back 10 to 20 years past in HS sports and it seems everyone complained back then too. Now, we just have BGP to record it on and read it again, and again!:laugh:

I will go ahead and say that I thought that 2 of the 3 officials were horrible, BOTH WAYS. I am not sure if they were even watching the game a few times last night. I know that it is tuff being an official but it is not that hard to see a walk or a palming violation and BLOW the whistle. You do have to put air through it for it to work!:thumb: Great game by both teams though.
