January 24, 200818 yr Author AverageJoesGym is right. Pujols gets it done in the postseason. He does other stuff too to get his team fired up. Like that comment he made on glavin in the 2006 nlcs on how he wasn't good in game one or whatever. The cards went on to win the next two games and the series. Also pujols backed it up when he faced him in game 5 and hit a hr when his team was down and that sparked a come back. Tell me one time a-rod has sparked his team OFF the field. Pujols is a leader on and off the field for the cardinals. A-Rod is not. And if i am starting a team i want a leader.

Didn't mean to make it sound personal, I just don't believe that one person can be blamed for wins/losses. A play or two that took place during the game that contributed to a win or loss sure, it can't be all on him though. That's okay, it just sounded that way to me when you said it. I know it can't all be on one player but it just seems to be a pattern with him that the teams that he leaves get better and even his most ardent supporters have to admit he's just not getting it done in the postseason. Jeter, who I have a lot of respect for, was very slow to come to his defense. That and the fact that as good a manager as Torre felt that he was so incapable of handling the postseason pressure that he had to be dropped to the bottom of the the order makes me wonder about his overall makeup.

A-Rod is slightly statistically better and is a better defender and baserunner. He is however, much more expensive and 5 years older than Pujols these facts in addition to the postseason struggles of A-Rod would make Pujols be the choice of many. Just like in the NBA--Kobe is the best player in the league but if a GM were to have to build a team around one player a lot, if not most of the GMs would take LeBron. The age difference is a HUGE issue.

A-Rod is 33. He wont be the best for much longer. IMO Pujols has his best years ahead of him. YOUR team wont be that much better or even the same as mine. MINE would be better for longer too.

Well its getting there in baseball bud. Pujols would have broken the HR record in 06 if he wouldnt have been out a month. He still put up 49. I think his best years are yet to come unless he pulls a griffey.:lol:
