You are reading way too much into this thread. The man is a native Australian and is therefore ineligible to run for president as an American. Therefore, I have not researched his position on gun control, balancing the US budget, the war against radical Islam, etc. Nothing in Howard's speech would disqualify him from receiving my vote, and the poll choices were "Yes" and "No."

That's a nice resume. It still doesn't answer the question of what his plan might be IF he were a US Presidential candidate. My argument is some in here are saying they'll vote for someone simply because he's against something that almost everyone is against YET they know nothing about a plan.

Anybody who believes any candidate's plan for anything when the candidate has no record is a fool. John Howard has a record of being tough on Islamic terrorism and illegal immigration in Australia. If somebody with a similar record ran for president of the USA and promised to secure the border, then that would be good enough for me.

 

OTOH, no plan presented by any of the current candidates carries much weight with me because none of the remaining candidates has a good record on the border security and illegal immigrant issues. (Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo were the only candidates who had earned credibility on this issue.)

 

Promises and plans are what get candidates elected in this country, when we should be electing presidents based on past performance. John Howard has done more good for this nation than most of our own elected officials.

Our country was founded upon Christian beliefs. These are beliefs that 90% of Americans still have. Being that we are Christian-Americans our society openly accepts all "legal" immigrants regardless of religious affiliation, ethnicity, and origin.

 

So why our the rights and beliefs of Christian-Americans, the majority (democracy?), the only ones whose are infringed?

 

Bottom line...Howard's viewpoints appeal to the majority of the people in our country. Democracy is supposed to reflect the views of the majority, but in America the moans & groans of minority views leave the opinions of everyone else to fall on deaf ears.

I said no, for one reason is that he wants to monitor all Mosques, even ones that do not raise any suspicions, this sounds too much like Hitler's Germany, or Stalin's Russia. What's next? Putting numbers on all Muslims arms for quick identification?

 

I don't agree with his stance on learning the language, would be nice if people whoa re going to be there the rest of their lives will try, but English is one of the hardest languages to learn anyway.

 

Most of everything else I agree with. If I ever move to another country, even become a citizen, all I would want it to be accepted and my belief's to be as well. I am not going to get all upset because they want their version of Bible, or Koran or whatever in their schools and such and not mine. As long as they accept that I have the right to do what I please which includes worship as I please and as this guy said, live in harmony, that's all I would want.
