I thought this sounded like one of those fabricated e-mails that are constantly making the rounds. I admit to being quite surprised that a check with Snopes reveals that not only is this true but the one about the Obama's church membership is also.

 

Yes, I could vote for this man's principles. I believe that America is a melting pot, not a country with a myriad of different cultures living separately but equally. I belive the quote below best illustrates my views.

In other words, add to it if you wish. But do not ignore it.

1st Bold: I agree and am fine with that, but the reason I am discouraged is because that has not happened. I'd rather see 10 different kinds of religions have their principles on morals and ethics posted than NONE at all. But that isn't what happened.

 

2nd Bold: Again, it is your right to not say the Pledge of Allegiance, but it is not anyone's right to take mine away.

 

3rd Bold: You're lucky it was sometime ago, and that the kid and his family are good people. Nowadays it isn't safe to come to an oral understanding on a matter such as this one for fear of being sued. Think about how sad that is.

 

4th Bold: We have pretty much open borders, are the self-proclaimed melting pot of the world, the statue of liberty practically says if your unwanted in your own country you're still wanted here, and our immigration laws are a joke.

 

So who's not trying to get along with who here?

 

By the way, care to comment about difference in language being THE biggest cultural barrier known to man?

1) This has happened in Cincinnati, a Jewish organization wanted to put up a Menorah (sp?) on Fountain Square during December, as there was a Christmas tree up for years there. Having the Menorah up prompted the KKK to put up a cross, which of course led to a lot of legal garbage. Now the cross in itself I see nothing wrong with it, they point that they were going on is there should be a cross up if the Jews are able to put up a Menorah, I always said that a church should have stepped up and said that they would sponsor putting up a cross, thus keeping the Klan out.

 

2) I agree, which is the point I made to that basketball player and his dad, they accepted as they seen it was a simple way to do things, we pray our way and he prays his way. As we were being inclusive.

 

3) It was a select team, so if they didn't like it they can look for another team.

 

4) I agree that our boarders are broken, and need to be fixed. It;s not fare to the citizens of this country, nor is it fare to those immigrants who play by the rules and have to wait a long time and go through the process.

4) Maybe so, but we have many laws that I think are more than a little offput but we go to great lengths not to break them.

Perhaps the fact that I am not so eloquent with words raised a stink, but this is exactly the point I was trying to make.
