I'll take the Patriots. Two contrasting points of view here...how on earth can a banged up Chargers team expect to go into New England and beat this group? I mean, even if Rivers and LT play, you have to think they're not going to be 100%. But, on the flipside, how on earth did they win in Indy in that situation? They proved they're a gritty, hard-nosed bunch, so maybe they'll bring that us-against-the-world attitude for 60 minutes next Sunday and give the Patriots more than most expect.

 

Also, I wonder, how much did the Colts decision to shut the team down and rest late in the season affect them against San Diego...how much did the Chargers benefit from that? Against New England, they're going to be playing a razor sharp offense...and a defense that probably worked some rust off last week.

 

San Diego has to pressure Brady...if they don't, they have no shot. They can't sit back in coverage like the Jags did, unless they want Brady to make a run at perfection again. On offense, Rivers (or Volek) has to be sharp and make some plays.

 

The Patriots just need to keep playing their game. If they do, they won't lose. No need to address their offense...defensively, I expect a better performance than they had against the Jags. They need to tackle better. They need to shut down the road and force the Chargers to pass.

 

I think New England will stretch their lead at some point and make the Chargers one-dimensional, and ultimately pull away. Although, it may be close for a while. I'm afraid to count the Chargers out in this one after that unlikely performance yesterday.

If Rivers and Tomlinson are hurt, this one could get really ugly.

Even if Rivers, and LT were playing, I don't think they could stop the Pat's.

I really think that the Chargers are too beat up from the Colts game, to be effective for 60 minutes. On emotion I think they are in it early, but lose by 10-13 in the end. Favre -vs- Brady

That's pretty much the way I see it...I'd say they'll come out with a lot of emotion and play well, but the Patriots will be too much in the end.

 

The Patriots are so good at just coming out with that business-like approach and taking care of business, even when the opponent is playing with tremendous emotion. It's impressive how they never get rattled.

The Patriots will go 18-0.and to the SB.Pats 31,Chargers 10.

If Rivers, Tomlinson, and Gates were not injured, I would take the Chargers on how hot they are right now, and the Pats look beatable finally. But I am taking the Pats 42-21.
