Problems with Mason County

Where was the Barner kid? Setty and Middleton may have been sick earlier in the week but not tonite,just got outplayed. OK Darius,we get that your unselfish,would you please at least try to take over a game. Is there any way WFTM can drown out someofthe most unsportmanslike loud mouth grownups who constantly complain about officiating and the like and come in loud and clear on the radio? Thought adults were past this kind of stuff. Have players quit,either on varsity or JV? Have heard conflicting stories. I would have said before the season no one in the state would get within 15 points of Mason, but this team tonite looked very, very bad. The word should be getting around that if you get physical with Miller you can most definetly get in his head, like Jones and CC did last season and SC tonite. Don't see how this kid will play for Billy G and his marathon practice sessions, but the talent is there.

I'm sure that if the radio booth were on the other side, you would hear a lot of the same thing. It's hard not to hear it when they are sitting right behind the radio announcer. And I think Danny Weddle does a great job... the best I've heard.

As for Mason Co they had a bad game. What's the deal they lose to Scott Co..not some unknown team. They had a bad night! This team will rebound. I agree Mason Co has trouble with teams that are very physical. If Miller gets in foul trouble then Mason Co may have a problem. As for Russ and Setty both were sick all week. Neal Pawsatt and Treg Setty two 9th graders will only get better and get more PT. Barner was in trouble at school and didn't get to play.

Danny Weddle is the best. I did my mentorship with him last year at the Radio Station.

Theres no problem at Mason County so please dont try and spin it like there is.Phil Barner was out this game and will miss the next couple due to disciplinary reason in school so it goes for athletics also.Yes there were a couple kids that quit the team but this was 4 weeks ago and it was there choice,They didn't play much anyways.Theres plenty of young talent now getting valuable minutes for the future which will ensure that this program stays at the top.As for the team yes there not playing great basketball right now but they will be fine trust me on this one.After next week they hit the weak part of there schedule until tourney time for the exception of Bryan Station.

I agree mhighfield. There is no problem with the Royals. The players that quit early in the year didn't play anyway.

Is there any way WFTM can drown out someofthe most unsportmanslike loud mouth grownups No way that WFTM can prevent this, probably the best way and to satisfy all would be for you not to tune in if it bothers you that much. Some things can be controlled while others can't. What can be controlled is you tuning in(or not tuning in) and what can't be is moving the radio guy.

:fight:To many Tournaments in a short period of time. Boys had only 2 nights at home for Christmas. They stayed in hotels for 2 weeks. Too many road trips. Sick players do not make for good games. Hawaii was nice they played some good games over there. They need to slow down on the scheduling let the players stay at home maybe the good team will be back soon. Ill be watching! I did not see any home court advantage tonight.

Mason Co. had a bad game.. so what. Everybody has a bad game it doesn't mean they are overrated. The talent is there they will be just fine.:thumb:

Mason has a sold program, 8th grade, Freshman, JV, and Varisty can compete with anyone in the state, I cant even believe this thread exists. Any time you win people want more, tonight was an off nite, but not time to jump ship on a talented team (and I am a Scott County Fan....remember our record is 9-7). Would you rather Mason play a weak schedule? Or compete with national powerhouses.......Mason is going to be a mainstay at the top of the charts for many years to come!

mhighfield, you're the guy I always trust for Royals info. Just find it odd that a player doesn't join the team on the bench. Are you with me about the contingent that sits behind WFTM and goes on and on about the referees,etc. Does WFTM not know that people from all teams listen to WFTM during a game,leaving a game etc. It really gives Mason a bad name. I know certain fans from the other side are just as bad, but are not broadcast loud and clear. If I was players relatives would move away from that section. Hate to hear adults acting that way. This was the first game have attended this season and found this team very plodding(for lack of a better word). Would think athletic Louisville and Lexington teams would have a field day, what say you?

I don't think its bad scheduling these Tourneys and these type teams will just make you better for the big dance.I do agree these kids need a little down time as your right 2-3 almost straight weeks in a hotel room is tough on a 15,16,17 year old kid.

I heard and commented on these same "hecklers" while I was listening to the Mason/Montgomery game, sounds way louder via radio than during the game...but than again I was sitting upper arena on Scott County's side.
