Cantrall Rankings

They should've scheduled some other top 25 teams to prepare them for this. Heck, they don't even have Corbin scheduled! You've gotta have the region's No. 1 and 2 teams play. Face facts: Cumberland did what so many other 13th Region teams before them and scheduled inappropriately when a good team was coming up.

Corbin chose not to play Cumberland. I'm not certain why, but I would guess that the reason being that they could not return the game next year at Corbin.

It would have been very beneficial for Cumberland to go to Lexington or Louisville and play some teams that would challenge them in different ways than what they normally face.

Boone County gets no love after soundly defeating #16 Adair County and defeating #23 Corbin in the championship of the Holiday Classic? 12-2 Boone Co. also has a better record than several of the teams in this list.

I think it's ridiculous that Paintsville is below Lincoln Co. they beat them on a neutral court with their starting PG injured. Paintsville should be in the Top 20.

I think they have Corbin above Boone for the fact that Corbin didnt even have Crawford playing and almost pulled out the Victory. Although Boone is a nice team and should be ranked.

Why is Madison Central ahead of Corbin? Didn't they lose to Corbin? Also, they have an 8-5 record...

Corbin has a fine team, but rankings should be based on what a team has done, not what they might have done. I know Crawford is a very good player, but you don't know what will happen until the game is played. I got caught in the same trap talking about Boone missing 2 of its injured starters recently--McFarland and Popp.

I like the Calpreps rankings because they consider strength of schedule. It seems like a more scientific rating system and is not as subjective.

I've watched Cumberland the past three years or so, so I know what this team is about even though I haven't seen them this year. And doing well on the AAU circuit doesn't always mean anything. 20,000 people don't show up to watch the AAU state championship.

And if they mess up and lose to Pineville or somebody else with upset on their minds, there's no guarantee their schedule gets any tougher with a trip to the All A Classic. It certainly doesn't get beefed up by playing in the WYMT Classic. They should've opted out of that one and played in one of the more prestigious Christmas tournaments in Lex, Louisville or elsewhere.

I am not real sure that you do know what this team is all about? Like I said get out and watch them a time or two and then tell me what you think! As for the AAU circuit, look back the last few years and you will see that the teams that were successful in AAU have been the same teams that have success in March. As for your what if scenarios, you and I could both come up with a lot of what if's for everyone in the state. Quality teams dont worry about what if's they just play basketball. I, myself personally would have liked to seen the Skins play a couple tournaments with the top teams in the state because I believe they can hold their own with the best. Having said all of that I think I will let this issue rest with you sir and just see what happens on the floor the next few weeks and months.
Sounds like excuses. Maybe Elliott Co. needs to go deeper into their bench to rest some of the starters. In the All A State and the Sweet Sixteen (if they make it to them), they will have to play 3 or 4 games in 3 or 4 days. Sounds like that might be a problem.

Yes, but so will every other team, which Cov Cath did not in the 5th 3rd. Like I said in the original post. Elliott was the only team that played in the quarter finals that had to play in the 1st round. Cov Cath is a great team, but I would love to see Elliott play them in the 1st or 2nd round of the state. Not after we played an extra game than them. Elliott goes about 7 or 8 deep, so yes it could be a problem in the state. But I would like to see them play on even rest.

Well, they lost again last night, and convincingly to Bryan Station. If they remain in the top 20 at 8-6, I will be surprised.

GRC should not be in the top 25.

Clark is a much better team then when they played Franklin Co and they beat Henderson Co which is rated higher. Sorry your team wasn't rated in the top 25. Dont take these ratings too serious.
