January 5, 200818 yr Author Thanks BGP Family!!! Some of you were there with us through this long journey. Starting point, the radiation had effected PH's legs. when they placed stints in PH's legs to try to save them....this did not work, so, they did a bi pass, running an artificial blood line from his arm down to his legs. That did not work, so, they had to amputate one leg, then a month later, the other. That one was a bad experience.....blood transfusions, coding, etc. Then came the pictures of him in PT learning how to walk....you all remember those little legs they gave him with the feet turned around backwards?! We all got a kick out of that. Then his pressure sores that turned really bad overnight and he had to have emergency surgery.....then the colostomy. It all led up to this!!!! There is light at the end of the tunnel :dancingpa:dancingpa It just feels so good to post great news instead of another surgery or this that or the other! You all have been there through the tough times, we want you there for the great times as well!!!!! Thank you all so much!

January 5, 200818 yr Author I really appreciate all the well wishes from our family here! It isn't just about the newly rediscovered freedom. See, my father was a race car driver in the late 1040s and early 1950s. Back when Beech Bend had a dirt circle track, he held the single lap speed record in 1953! On his excursions to Nashville to race, he raced against Sterling Marlin's father, Coo Coo, back in the day. Now, I'm wise enough to know not to have any delusions about high performance driving, but driving is in my blood, and I've missed it terribly over the last four years. I will miss the feeling of the power of a vehicle through the pedals, but at least I will once again be mobile! Also, lifting me has taken a terrible toll on Mrs PH's back. This will alleviate most of the lifting she'll have to do, and I'm very excited about that! The two bad things about this right now? One is that we're temporarily back to one vehicle. But it's a 2000 Chevy Impala LS, Black with a Gray interior. It has the NICE 3800 Series II V6 in it, and during its life, it was named one of the ten best vehicle engines in the world. It still doesn't look dated, and my better half says that it is one of the best cars we've ever owned. We plan to do some things to spruce it up some, like getting a later model xm Radio setup for it so that it has the appearance of being factory installed. We already have a detailing shop picked out to fix all the nit-picky stuff for it, such as getting rid of scratches and giving it the clay bar treatment! The other bad thing right now is having to do without satellite radio right now! The Chrysler has Sirius Satellite Radio, and it has me spoiled! We listen to the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s channels, along with early and late classic rock stations. Plus, Mrs PH has an easy listening station and a love songs station that she's fond of. We have an xm jam box setup here at home, but not the same as having it on the road or around town!:ylsuper: The folks at Tennessee Mobility absolutely went nuts over the Chrysler! It is a 2007 Town and Country Limited (top of the line) in Cognac Crystal Pearl Coat (a rare color) with a Dark Khaki and Light Graystone interior. It has all the whistles and bells on it, including the aforementioned Sirius Satellite Radio, GPS, "Ready-Made Babysitter" (the DVD setup), three-zone Automatic Climate Control, Automatic Side Doors and Liftgate, Rear Park Assist, Heated Leather Seating, Power Sunroof, Power Heated Side Mirrors...well, you get the idea. We also added two Chrysler Accessories, Remote Start, and Turn Signal Side Mirrors. It also has a 3.8 Liter V6, rated at ten more HP (210) than the Impala. Superb gas mileage on the open road, terrible around town because it has gearing more suited for the open road. Even though a minivan is not my first choice for a ride (I think about the new Camaro about to be released and I commence to drooling all over myself...!!:lol:), Mopar did the minivan first, and they still do it best! Sorry about being so long winded...just so excited to finally getting the ball rolling on the upfit! It is great to see that the BGP Family is just as excited! January 6, 200818 yr Author PH has not had a speeding ticket but one time...when he was just 27. I have a strange feeling that this streak will end!!!:scared::scared:Also, when we get the van back, I have another strange feeling that I will not know where he is a lot of the time:scared::lol::lol::lol:

January 15, 200818 yr Author We have about 7-9 more weeks left. I am excited for him as well...I keep talking to him about all the places he can finally go without me. He is excited because he can finally, once again, drive me when he takes me out!!! Thank you so much HHSDad, you are great!!!
