I meant relating to the specific topic at hand. As in the Big Bang Theory, or evolution.

Everything I posted has to do with the topic at hand... specifically how every scientist has essentially the exact same evidence to work with, and every scientist interprets it according to his or her unique worldview. It is rare to find a scientist so brutally honest on a personal level that they will deliberately contradict their own biases or worldview. They may exist, but they are rare indeed.

I believe God created this earth. If he did it through what scientists call "the big bang" then so be it. I don't know how he did it, and I'm not saying scientists do. I'm simply saying they do a lot of research before throwing the word "theory" out there lol.

I respect your opinion greatly, Larry. However, that's one interpretation. Many do not take a literalist stance in interpretation. I, for one, do not believe that all there is to know is found in the Bible.

I don't think you will get disagreement from anyone on the bolded. It says in the NT that the Bible couldn't hold all the miracles and things that Jesus did.

 

It says somewhere that we don't have the capabilities to understand all that God has had to do and why he has done it.

I do think God has revealed to us what we DO NEED to know to live a good Christian life.

 

When we get in trouble is when we try and put our human reasoning to what God has not revealed to us. We expect God to think on an imperfect human reasoning aspect. We are right with our thoughts even though we are imperfect beings and God must be wrong even though he is a perfect being.

I accept scientific explanations for things and have absolutely no problem reconciling my belief in God with that. I don't see why God would create things exactly the way it says in Genesis and then actually make the Earth and the Universe full of evidence to the contrary. The Bible that we have was put together by some bishops 300 or so years after Jesus left. The OT has been translated, retranslated, passed down, and picked up stories from other religions. I believe the Bible reveals God's truth but not every single sentence should be taken literally especially the KJV. The Bible mentions unicorns for cryin' out loud.

That's your point of view. I don't believe every single thing in the Bible is meant to be taken literally. If so, it would be very difficult for us to take it literally seeing as how it's been translated from it's original language and much has probably been lost in translation.

My NIV says wild ox on the first one. Not sure what a satyr is but my NIV says wild goats.

There aren't any original manuscripts. There are manuscripts close to the time of Christ but nothing "original".

The fact that the KJV, which many believe is God's dictation to mankind, mentions mythical animals and the NIV corrects this is one example of what's been happening to the Bible for the past 4,000 years. Up until the 300's AD or so there was no Bible as we know it, just a collection of books. A group of bishops decided what should go in and what shouldn't. I believe the Bible is God's word but I can't accept the 6,000 year old universe when that's something man got from adding up ages of patriarchs.

The closest we have today to a accurate translation is the NASB Bible.
