Mason County Athletic Director Fred Hester announced early this afternoon that the Mason County Invitational Tournament originally schedued to start tonight will be pushed back one day with the finals now set for Sunday afternoon at 3pm.

 

Pendleton County and Bracken County cited transportation problems due to the inclement weather.

 

The new schedule has Pendleton County playing Mason County in the upper bracket opening round on Thursday at 6:30pm, with the Brossart-Bracken County game to follow at 8pm. Live Broadcast of the BB-Bracken Co game via the http://www.bmustangs.com website starting at 7:50pm.

 

The bottom bracket opening round will have Montgomery County playing St. Patrick on Friday night at 6:30pm with Harrison County and Campbell County doing battle at 8pm.

 

The semi-finals will be Saturday night at 6:30pm and 8pm, with the finals on Sunday at 3pm.

 

I assume that the JV MCIT will be played on Saturday as scheduled.

No real surprise that it was pushed back, I know a lot of schools were canceled or on delays today. I know of some that were posted that already called off school tomorrow.

 

I figure with the somewhat light winter we have had so far, we are going to get like 20 inches in a span of a few days to even things out. Usually how it works.

Did not play because Bracken and Pendleton could not attend.

Well everyone knows the last thing Pendleton County needs is a wreck with players getting heart. This season has pretty much been a wreck for them anyway.

Probably not. School out does not necessarily equal no basketball that evening. Pretty much depends on whether or not the visiting team(s) can make it.

This is not necessarly true, Fayette County has a no school no play policy, a tournament during this time of the year is extremely hard if teams cant play on snow days. I know that at our local tournament we had to pretty much quit asking Fayette County Schools because of this policy. I agree with it some what but also think that at times supertindents should make acceptions.

Sorry for the confusion. Since this is an MCIT thread, I should have said "school out doesn't necessarily mean no basketball game that night in Mason County."

I understand just saying that some schools district policies do not allow them to play on holidays or snow days. It seems as if Harrison gets out if the wind blows too hard....

Fayette Co hardly ever calls off school. They go when most of the surrounding schools are not, with the exception of Clark Co....they don't call off school very often either. If they could not attend your tourneys, then I assume the weather was bad and other schools could not come either.

The two of the last three years Fayette Co. has been the only problem in late Jan. at our tournament both times school was called because of black ice which was gone by game time. It is Extremely difficult to run a tournament with issues like this....I know you can't control the weather but like I said above I believe in certain situations their should be an exception.

In our school's system. no school ,no game. I can remember back in the 60's and 70's when no ball was to be played on church nights-Wednesdays and Sundays--My, how time has changed peope's thinking.

The roads are pretty bad in the surrounding counties of Mason County. No real suprise here. Mason and Mongomery I heard even called off practice this morning.
