Is this a better year than normal for Gallatin or do they usually have this kind of success?

 

 

They were a good team last year and a pretty darn good one this year, but it would be safe to say that Gallatin hasn't been much of a factor in the 8th region for a long time. They have a 1 regional championship in their history and it was back in 1959.

Nice job GC! Just shows, if you do not care who scores, who rebounds, not scared to put forth the effort to commit to stingy D and properly run offense and not worry who gets their name and pic in the paper you can do nice things! Hats off to the boys and staff @ GC.

 

I would think that this is a goal of every coach. You have to search long and hard to find teams with these qualities in this day and age. The good teams put team results in front of individuals goals.

:thumb: As much as I wish the team from Gallatin Cty much success I would have to agree with Sandmans assessment of the Enquirers and Ryan Ernst coverage of the Gallatin Cty athletic program.

 

The thing about the Enquire you don't get is Gallatin Co. is Northern Kentucky when something bad happens or test scores come out. The funny thing is with test scores on the rise that doesn't get covered anymore. Gallatin County in case some people don't realize is the next County down from Boone County. A good deal of the people from Gallatin work in Northern Ky/Cinn. area. A majority of the people go to Northern Ky. for their entertainment and shopping. If in this day an age when retailers are scrambbling for every last dollar you would think that those same advertisers would want Gallatin included. If I am not mistaken advertisements for all the sales come in every paper delivered to Gallatin County. If these advertisers were told that a portion of their advertising dollars were being sent to a dissatisfied group of consumers I bet Mr. Ernst would find a way to squeeze in some Gallatin Co. sports. I know this may sound petty but at one time we were considered Northern Ky. our stats were in the paper and there was some coverage, now when we even play a school from Northern Kentucky that game is not even put in the schedule of games for the night. In all reallity I hate the fact that a good team doesn't get the coverage it deserves because of the bias of a few people who do not have a clue.

First of all, congrats on a good start to Gallatin. I look for them to make some noise on the state level of the all "A". Hard nosed kids that are well coached, that's a nice combo.

 

That being said, why take the Enquirer to task here? I agree they make mistakes, many of them, but failing to give Gallatin coverage is not one of them. It is a business after all, and what does covering Gallatin give them from an advertising perspective? That's what I thought.

 

But, covering Gallatin would take away valuable inches from Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties, where the advertisers are. Thus alienating them. Makes no business sense at all.

 

Circulation has nothing to do with it, papers don't survive on the .50 per day they make per copy, that's just what someone may tell laymen. And Ryan Ernst doesn't decide who he should cover, that decision is made for him. I.E. don't blame him for Gallatin not being covered.

 

Finally, if you'll miss Terry so much, maybe you could at least spell his name correctly. :sssh:

I can't explain it at all but unfortunately it is what it is.

Actually I thought ICN 6 and Ryan Ernst gave very good coverage to Gallatin during last year's "A", even before the Brossart game? I'm sure if they'd have gotten past the Mustangs, they'd have enjoyed good coverage throughout the tourney--Ernst was there the entire tourney? Good luck to the Wildcats this year--Make some more noise in the "A", and the coverage will follow!!

Yes, I can give you both a long or short answer, but I'm not sure either is approperiate in this thread. I don't want to thread jack a high school game thread.

 

But, I also want to give you the best info I can. Maybe a PM would be better. You obviously have a passion for Gallatin County, which is great, and keep in mind I have nothing at all against the Wildcats either. They are well coached, play hard, and are talented as well.
