No disrespect to Lewis, but if Ashland doesn't win this by 20+ something's wrong.

Both teams come out upset after losing their previous game. This game will be very uptempo. I hope the refs will let both teams play to an extent. A game isnt fun when a foul is being called every 15 seconds. Game is close at the half, but Ashland pulls away at the end.

What makes a quality coach? Does the win/lose record matter? If so then the last two years Lewis is 15-40.

Hampton is a quality coach because he gets as much as anybody out of the talent level he has. His kids play harder than anyone and they always get better and progress.

 

An example was last year...when I saw them personally play at Boyd Co in December they looke horrid. Beat by a subpar South Floyd team on 60 foot heave. From that point on they got better....and better and better. Ultimately playing their best at the end of the season and knocking off a much more talented Greenup County team.

 

He has always competed with the best and his track record proves that. Just the other night he had whom many think is a top #4 team in the region Fairview on the ropes and into OT.

 

Joe Hampton is highly regarded in the coaching circles and in general.

You beat me to what I was going to say. Winning and losing is important when tournament time comes. Having your boys make progress throughout the season is what makes a good coach. I like to think of the season as scrimmages preparing yourself for the tournament. I like to see our teams win during the season but if they lose, then hopefully they take something from that game that will make them better.

It would be interesting to see what Hampton could do if he had the talent to work with that Biggs and some others have. This is no knock on Biggs. He is also an excellent coach, but talent seems to have a lot to do with coaching. People got this board and ridiculed Mays forever. Now he is a good coach. Nothing changed about his style. He just has talent to work with.
