December 13, 200718 yr I would certainly think that they mean something to the Minnesota players and fans who have been down for quite some time . Those are the ones that really matter. As I said earlier it is putting confidence and a belief in the Minnesota players that they can win. A team has to have that, confidence breeds confidence. Yes, they imo are going to take quite few losses before the season is out. They also will probably win more games than people thought that they would. I also would not be suprised if Minnesota beats some people that they are "not supposed to beat" as the season goes on. OldRambler, I agree. New coaches BEG for a cupcake schedule in the beginning. That is unless you are taking over for a big program that is expected to play some big boys. (example, UNC's schedule when Dean Smith stepped down). I am a huge UK fan, don't get me wrong, but what is the difference in UK playing G.W., and Stony Brook. Yeah, they played IU and UNC but they play the almost every year it seems. UMINN will have their OSU's and Michigan State's eventually, give it time. Tubby is 3 wins away from winning more games than UMINN won ALL OF LAST SEASON! Give the guy a break. These games were not gimmies last year, with Tubby at the helm, they are. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I agree with both of you. These games do mean something. Minnesota may not be a powerhouse but like these two said, they have been down for a many of years. These W's are big for this team and it's fans. I hope they keep on coming.

December 14, 200718 yr Good start to the season for Tubby and the Gophers. I think the Golden Gophers will be much improved in the Big-10. Some on the Big-10 Network have predicted as good as 9-7 to 8-8, to as low as 6-10 in the Big-10 this season. They have taken care of the games they are supposed to win or should win and have won under Tubby!
