South Laurel vs. Corbin predictions (12-14-07)

Featured Replies

Who's going to win in there first meeting of the year? I'm going with South by 5 at home, with Corbin playing without the help of Crawford.

Corbin has narrowed the gap between the two teams, but SL will be too much for the Redhounds. Without Crawford, Corbin just doesn't have enough firepower to hand with the Cards.

Depends on who shows up. South lost to North and Corbin lost to Knoxville Catholic. Who is better player by player 1 thru 10? If South gets the breaks, like the Garrard County game I watched then the Cards win easily. Hope the Flops are a thing of the past. Corbin will no doubt be the under dog, but what else is new. At least the Hounds know better days are ahead when Josh Crawford returns. Another big weapon and total change for the Hounds. Throw the old scouting reports out the window and prepare to face a new undiscovered Corbin team once Big Josh rolls on the floor. Maybe he appears on Friday night..but more than likely not according to my sources...only time will tell. Rest well Cardinal fans. No Crawford should equal South Win...correct?

First things first, Corbin has Buckhorn tomorrow but since we are fans, I don't see anything wrong with us looking ahead. If Corbin comes to play like they did against East Jessamine, I like their chances. I'll grant you that EJ isn't the stiffest competition but Corbin actually looked very good and even like a region contender the other night. That was without Josh on the floor. It'll take a great effort from the Hounds but I think they can beat South without Crawford. Corbin is about a 11 deep team with a lot of talent. Crawford is a huge part of that but the rest can hold their own. Corbin by 7 but i will not be shocked or the least bit surprised to see South sneak up and get em on Friday.

Corbin wins this one, with or without Crawford.

North removed the bird from its back last Friday, IMO Corbin will do the same this Friday. I'm sure it will be a hard fought game but the Hounds should win by 7 or 8.

Depends if the refs protect St. Johns, which they do on SL home court, SL wins! If people are allowed to play defense, like Whitley did, Corbin will win! So it all comes down to the big kid in the middle! I like Corbin's chances in this one!

Corbin wins 62-58. St John gets a block or two early on but will not be a factor.

Corbin 69-66.

This guy is 6'6 or so and started at center for South in the sweet 16 last year and you think he will be no factor, I feel Corbin should win this game but IMO they will at least know St. John was on the floor!

I agree, St. John will be a factor in this game. He is so big and skilled that he will always have an effect in any game. It's easy for a big man to dominate in the 13th region due to the lack of big men traditionally in the 13th. However this year, Manns of Corbin, Day of Pineville, Wilson of Cumberland and Brumback of Jackson can equal things out because they are also big and strong but St. John will still play a role in the game. The Johnson kid at Cumberland is the only person I see being able to have his way with St. John. It's not that Matt isn't skilled, it's just the fact that Johnson is more of an above the rim type player that could get him into foul trouble with quickness.

Anyways, this will be a great game on Friday with some tremendous matchups. I hope Corbin beats the fire outta South but I have a feeling it will have a tournament feel and close result. This is what high school ball is all about. Two storied programs with a mutual respect yet disdain between the schools and cities 10 miles apart. Rowdy atmosphere and what could be a prelude to who goes to State if that's the way things shake out in March.

I'll go with Corbin by 5. How long is Crawford out?

Now Bubba, with you being thisclose to the bench at Corbin, you should know the Redhounds are going to win by 10-plus.
