December 6, 200718 yr An awful lot of threads have been started lately that deal with nuclear weapons, and the countries that may or may not posses them. The question I pose to the brain trust that is the P&R board on BGP: Does the fact that humans have the ability to wipe life off of this planet, scare the living poop out of you? Sure does me!!
December 6, 200718 yr I feel confident of where I am going once I live this physical life. So, no it doesn't.
December 6, 200718 yr Author I feel confident of where I am going once I live this physical life. So, no it doesn't. Sometimes I feel this way, but God has created a beautiful Earth for us, I really would not like to see it destroyed by anyone other than himself.
December 6, 200718 yr Sometimes I feel this way, but God has created a beautiful Earth for us, I really would not like to see it destroyed by anyone other than himself. Who says that using man through Nuclear war is not the way he is going to lay barren this planet through fire? And I believe Scripture indicates that he is going to lay bare Earth and not destroy it. I believe Earth is going to be brought back to it's glory days of Garden of Eden time and that is where we will be for all of eternity.

I still do not want to see the earth go this way, by our own hands. Every Christian should be an environmentalist. I am a member of the Asbury College chapter of Arocha, a Christian Environmentalist club.

And it depends on your definition of environmentalist. I don't see the need to tie myself to a tree or defend the rights of the banana two-toothed slug. But at the same time, I do feel a responsibility to this planet which is God's creation.
December 6, 200718 yr Author But you do need to make sure that no animal goes extinct in the name of human development.
December 6, 200718 yr But you do need to make sure that no animal goes extinct in the name of human development. I would agree with that to an extent. If it meant feeding people and that was the only option, sorry. If it meant developing the latest casino or strip mall, surely we can do something else.
December 6, 200718 yr The way I see it, this country will one day have a mega-disaster and we will be totally unprepared for it. A mega-disaster can take many forms. WMDs, natural disaster, economic, epidemic, etc.
December 6, 200718 yr Author I would agree with that to an extent. If it meant feeding people and that was the only option, sorry. If it meant developing the latest casino or strip mall, surely we can do something else. Agreed, But I am never for cutting down the rain forest.
December 6, 200718 yr I grew up during the Cold War. This is nothing new to me. I remember having bomb drills in grade school where we all got under our school desks. Just one more thing to fall on top of your head...
December 6, 200718 yr Only 2 nuclear/Atomic bombs have EVER been deployed. Who was it again that deployed them? Wasn't it on cities with men, women and children? I dont think we're the one's that need to worry.
December 6, 200718 yr I feel confident of where I am going once I live this physical life. So, no it doesn't. What's the old joke about "Well, I thought you was gitten' up a load to leave right now."
December 6, 200718 yr I grew up during the Cold War. This is nothing new to me. So did I, but this is different. Didn't we recently have a discussion on the subject of mutual anihilation? A nuclear weapon in the arsonal of a country interested in survival is one thing. In the hands of a fanatical group bent on destruction is quite another.
