Do you find that to be true on feild turf? I think it might be to a extent depending on the offenses but not as much as it would on a grass field.

 

Yes. Maybe not to the same extent because speed is not as neutralized. But from my experiences of playing and coaching, (in most circumstances)any extreme deviation of weather benefits the weaker team. Dealing with 15-17 year old kids, any thing throws them out of whack sometimes.

Will this be Lone Oak's first game on an artificial surface?

Since St. X predominately uses a Run Offensive and Trinity predominately uses a Pass Offensive, I think WET weather (Rain, Sleet or Snow) favors the Tigers. A football is hard enough on a good day to catch, a wet football is even harder.

 

If it is just cold with no precipatation, I think the weather is not a factor for either team.

On another point, the official game balls are all one type, (rawlings, Wilson? )

which is different than what some of the teams use. ( Nike ) It doesn't have the grip like the other balls so add in some wet to it and you could see some loose balls.

 

What about the theory that small hands have trouble gripping the ball in cold weather? Which QB's of the 12 starters have small hands?

This is getting way over analyzed! These are 15-17 year old kids in the State Finals. They are going to be numb to any kind of weather conditions.
