Russell sould be a lot more battle tested coming into this game, Breathitt on the other hand has not had a tough game in a while and has played the much easier schedule. I look for Russell to squeak by the Bobcats in this one.

You must also remember Breathitt Co.is still a New kid on block when it comes to football as to some schools,we didnt start till early 70's (73-74)and to have 3 State Championships, you to have to say Thats "GREAT",and What about their Coach Mike Holcomb should win" Coach of Year "for sure, i know i would place my vote for him in Class 3-A.

Wow that's GREAT! Coach of the year? Why not he's a great coach.

Not many teams can claim to have won the last 4 games with Russell - maybe no one else.

Russell has 2 State Championships and are still in the hunt this year also.

I did not realize that Breathitt has won the past four times the teams have met. I would say that is an accomplishment. Time to stop that streak.

Russell heard all of this last year about the Belfry-Russell game and look how that turned out. Most people thought that we would lose by a pretty big margain. I guess us winning 19-0 was a suprise for those with no faith in us. I think Coach still has some suprises left up his sleeve! GO DEVILS!!!!:fire:

With replacing as many starter as they had too I would think coach McGlone would be in the running as well.

I believe the last three times these teams have played Breathitt has won a state title. I know alot of Russell fans that were around for all of them feel that Russell should have won two of those games. (02,96)

Both of those are years when Russell could have had a another state title. Should be another good game this year.

IMO I think Russell can win any game coming. It seems they step it up when they have to. I just hope they don't wait to late to step it up in this Friday's game. I know I want a better crowd and I want to see more fans cheering for our team!!

I'm seeing double..... :creepy:

I am looking forward to the trip up to Russell. I do have a question for some of you out there, can someone give me directions to Russell's football field from Jackson? Thanks for the help.

There is a link to the Russell football website. Go down to the bottom left and click on the drop down menu that says "Around Russell". From there click on "Directions to the stadium".

They do a pretty good job with the site. Breathitt County fans should check it out for roster, stats, etc.....

Take state route 23 to Ashland. Continue through Ashland until you see the Lowes on the left. Route 693 Turn left on 693. Stay on 693 and turn right at the third stop light. Welcome to Ivan McGloan field.

I have noticed that the crowd size has been very small. I myself can't figure why the fans are staying away. At first I thought it was the new playoff system but after the Mason county game I'm not convinced. It might be the cold weather. I can tell you one thing Jeepman will be there and will be bringing the whole family to cheer for the Red Devils. :dancingpa

I would say about 4-5 hundred fans maybe more hopefully from Jackson/Breathitt county will be there,Breathitt Co.Bobcats have a good following and at most away games we have as many as the home team does, take even at LCA (lexington)we had as many on visitors side as they did on home side, and yes i do believe the way the play-off was this year playing within the district hurt ,cause we really had to win district twice, and am i that bad wrong.

Breathitt Co.Bobcats are a 3rd/4th quarter team also,i do believe they are in better shape than most teams so they have been know to prove that i must say,if you have watch this team,by end of third quarter we are just getting fresh/catching our wind and the other teams are tired so Coach has them in tip top shape,by hard pratices, lots of routes on air and few subs that can relieve others. See you there ,TOPPERDAD will be there.

I remember that drive from Russell to Jackson in 2002. It was absolutely horrible two lanes all the way. It seemed to take forever. Yes and it was a lot worse on the way back after loosing in overtime.

Jeepman, you have to say that was a great game, Russell played well, Justin Haddix had his worse first half of season, but Breathitt Co.Bobcats never let up and came back and a missed field goal was the differance.Russell had maybe the best kicker in state and i don't think had missed an extra point all year ,till then.

When teams win Championships usually there is a little luck involved in it also, talent is important but luck has its part of the season also.

I hope for everyones sake that the crowd this Friday is as big and loud as that Breathitt-Russell crowd in 2002. That place was insane!!! That was easily the loudest crowd I had ever saw in a high school game.
