What has happened to the AD's of late? Has the majority of talent moved out of city limits?

^^That and the onside kick with 8 to go were both puzzling. Gay makes the field goal without question. The only problem was that they had no timeouts left, so you are left with being forced to stop the Tiger fullbacks pretty quickly, and really Danville gave up 5.2 yards per carry on the ground tonight. So it was iffy either way.

 

But the onside was a stumper. Plenty of time left, and at that point you had all timeouts. Bardstown gets the ball on their own 49, and by converting one first down was able to us up about 4 minutes, even though the drive wasn't all that good. Heck, even if it was 3 and out, the punt puts you too deep to make a quick impact. Gay is kicking all touchbacks, I just didn't get that one at all.

 

There were some strange things all night long. Another example is that Danville drove the ball down Bardstown's throats the first drive of the game. They melted off about 8 minutes of the first quarter and obtained first down after first down. They were running the ball right up the gut with Simon and then mixing in a counter here and there and an occasional pass.

 

Then, the second time they get the ball, they immediately go to a jet sweep play that leads to a holding penalty and eventually a 3rd down and forever. The next thing you know Bardstown has a short field to score a TD. Then, a DAnville penalty on the extra point kick leads to a gutsy 2-pt coversion call that ended up being crucial.

I'm not surprised at all...Congratulations to Bardstown...The one thing that has to change with this group of Kids that will be back next year...You don't get a automatic Wins just Because Danville is on your Jersey...Bardstown Played to win and the better team won...

 

I want to thank everyone that was able to stop by the House...I had a Blast meeting Jim,Hearsay and Admiralcrp(which I already know)...Hearsay thanks for the gifts...My wife also enjoyed everyone's Company...

I thought that the game was poorly managed by Danville. You drive right down the field on the first drive going basically between the tackles. Then to start the second drive you try to go outside....get a holding call and bam there goes your night till 8 minutes to go in the game when you figure out you can pass. It amazed me that Danville tried to get outside on a faster team. It seems as if they try to get to fancy at times. Do what you do best!

On another note......I saw no intensity till after #66 got the personal foul call. They should come out and stay intense from one snap to the next.

Congrats to Bardstown....they showed up. I really like the Phillips kid. What year is he?

I feel the same way. I can't figure out the change in game plan. Also, Bardstown wore Danville's defense out on the outside all night long.

One thing I would like to see from the "talented" kickers, is more of the "pop-up" onsides kick....that seems to be really effective at the higher levels.

 

That "pop-up" onside kick the Boyle Co. teams (of past years) made infamous isn't likely to come back.

 

Officials were reminded that if the ball doesn't touch the ground after the kick, the receiving team MUST be given the opportunity to catch it - just like a punt. In other words, that onside play had always been illegal (kick receiving interference), it just wasn't called.

 

To use the "pop-up" now, the top of the ball must be kicked and the resulting bounce is played.

We've got DeMarco Phillips, #7, who caught the second TD, and we've got Rashuan Phillips #42 who was extremely versatile last night, at LB and FB. Both are juniors and will be back next season.

Wireman, I'm curious how you can add that Ft. Campbell will beat either of these teams "handily", there hasn't been anyone beat Bardstown handily all year, and they've played a tough schedule, by the way, were you at the Ft. Campbell/Warren east game ? I was at the Bardstown/Warren east game, that Bardstown almost won.

Both from my angle and the resulting evidence, J. Gesser was in on seemingly every play. IMO, he was the best player on the field that night.

I spoke with some of the Tiger coaches afterward, and we spoke about how the first drive mirrored what went on in the first half of the first meeting. They said they shifted some personnel over to bigger guys on their right side, as Danville was having repeated success running left.

 

That helped seal things off, relatively, knocking out the long runs and limiting things to 5 and 6 yards and shrinking before completely closing it off. By that time Danville was forced into passing situations because of the 22-7 lead.
