Another good book on the same subject, and much shorter, is "Case Closed" by Gerald Posner. Much of his research was used in a CBS documentary in the late '90's.

 

BTW, at the book store yesterday there was a note under where the Bugliosi books were located that said HBO was planning a 5 part series based on the book.

Professor....I don't think there can be any new facts, but like I said earlier I have read a lot of info and of course when the book comes to audio tape/CD I'll get it. When our president goes by the street sign from the Zapruder film his head is hit and snapps back. A shot from the rear couldn't cause that.

 

I've seen the photo in Dallas of his wound...upper right front. The timing for LOH to fire the shots with the rifle would take to long as his Limo moves away from the fifth story site. That alone proves LOH didn't act alone.

Bugliosi's attention to detail is second to none.If you have never read Helter Skelter,you should do so.In my mind,Manson would have walked if anyone else had been prosecuting the case.

I am looking forward to reading this one to see if anything can finally make my mind up whether there was conspiracy or not. He probably believed that after the fact that he killed Oswald, but I don't believe he went into the station with the intention of killing him. He left his beloved dog in his car. If he had planned a murder, he wouldn't have brought the dog along. Ruby had a impulsive temper and had been known to explode for the slightest reason and pistol whip people in his night club. I think that is what happened in the police station....he just snapped. His brother said he was really devastated by JFK's assassination. He said Ruby told him he saw Oswald "smirk" as he was brought in, and that's when his temper and impulsive nature got the best of him. He had the opportunity and the means to kill the killer of JFK, and he took full advantage of it. But he was surprised afterwards that he wasn't considered a hero. He couldn't understand that all he accomplished was silenceing the best witness the prosecution could have had....Kennedy's killer, Oswald. Ruby's action is the primary reason there are so many conspiracy theories about this tragedy.

Is this going to be re-runned at a later date? I saw parts of it when it first showed on ABC. I'd like to tape it this time.

I had the special that aired on CBS with anchor Dan Rathers back in the mid-'90s taped, but I loaned it to a teacher and they misplaced it.

 

As I mentioned in a previous post, HBO is going to have a 5 part series based on this book. It would seem to me it would take more than that, though, with the size of the book. I've been reading every night, and I have completed only 200 pages. The print is small, and many pages have footnotes listed beside an * in even smaller print at the bottom of the page for further explanations. He takes everything in a time sequence, but you may read what was happening at 1:41 PM CST at the Officer Tippit murder scene, and later read what was happening at 1:41 PM with the investigation of the assassination at Dealey Plaza. He writes in such a manner and detail that it almost feels like you were there when everything was happening.

It's very interesting, and I've falling asleep a couple of times while reading, only to wake up a few minutes later struggling to breathe due to the weight of this enormous book on my chest. :eek: :lol:

Just finished it, learned a lot about Jack Ruby. Hated the part about the police officer. Still lots of questions, and the JFK movie there were some interesting facts. LHO hit 49 out 50 targets from 200 yards away then a week later hit 48 out of fifty as a marine.
