How can Manning take crucial D.o.G.'s.....that penalty falls either on the quaterback or coach and watching the game it appeared that the plays were making it in to Eli in plenty of time.

November 12, 200718 yr How many delay of game penalties can a team get at home? I mean seriously, I think the Giants were trying to set a record. Very dissappointing performance by them, IMO...I was drinking the Giants Kool-Aid, but that was a reality check. I really thought this team had turned the corner. I thought they were possibly the best team in the NFC and that they'd beat the Cowboys. They looked more like the often disfunctional bunch that Tom Coughlin seems to lord over...could this be the beginning of the annual Giant second half collapse? Their three losses have come at the hands of 8-1 Green Bay and 8-1 Dallas by a combined score of 111-68. The six wins against teams with a combined record of 15-38, including the Jets (1-8), Atlanta (3-6), San Francisco (2-6) and Miami (0-9). The remaining schedule is considerably tougher with the combined opponents record being 37-28, 4 games on the road and one of the 3 remaining home games is New England... I wouldn't be shocked to see another second half swoon from Coughlin's Crew. In any case, I learned two things from this game... 1. New York is definitely a notch below Dallas and Green Bay in the NFC. 2. They aren't good enough to beat New England.
November 12, 200718 yr Pitt is 7-2. NY shot themselves in the foot, two key holding penalties really kept the game from being really close. Dallas has a good team, I'd be shocked if they didn't at least make it to the conference championship. The holding on Kevin Boss was a terrible call made by a ref 30 yards away. Awful. Also, the NFL must forgive Dallas for the "horse collar" tackle since they're the reason it was invented. Brady James used it like it was legal and never got called for it. The refs were awful yesterday, BOTH WAYS. They missed a ton of calls. Regardless, the Giants dropped the ball on a chance to win. Tons of mistakes on Eli's part, and Coughlin's. However, Eli is not the reason the Giants lost. I think an equal amount of blame falls on Eli, the O-Line, the secondary and Coughlin. Why not call a time out and kick a 47 yard FG instead of going for it on fourth down? It's a two possession game, down by 11 a FG makes it an 8 point game.

There's been a couple of losses where I've nearly broken something in my house, or on my body. (Seattle game where Feely missed 100 FG's and San Francisco playoff comeback)

Dallas and Green Bay should be considered the best two teams in the NFL even before this Giants loss. They both had beaten the Giants in weeks 1 and 2. The second thing you learned was obvious. While the Giants do stand a chance vs. anyone in this league, they're obviously not better than New England. No one in the NFL is. Not even Dallas, at home. The Giants are not the same team as last year. Last year after their 6-2 start, did you know that the following players were out for the season? Osi Umenyiora Michael Strahan Luke Pettitgout Amani Toomer Justin Tuck Sinorice Moss They had a ton of injuries last year. This year, they have a couple of nagging injuries, but nothing too serious. However if Plax's ankle doesn't get better that may become a big problem. The Giants are 6-3. That isn't bad, especially considering they started off 0-2. You point out their wins have came against weak opponents, but they're only 3 losses have came against teams with a combined record of 16-2. The Packers and Boys are both 8-1 at this point and look like the cream of the crop in the NFC. Had the Giants not been flagged for a couple of holding calls negating a big TD drive, this game could have been completely different. Penalties killed the Giants. I know I speak for some Cowboys fans when I say that the Cowboys DO NOT want to see the Giants again this year. I'm not saying the Giants would destroy them, or even beat them. But it wouldn't be easy either way.

Right now I can admit that the Cowboys are better. They didn't get what I would consider the Giants "best shot" last night, but it was close. The Giants couldn't finish and the Cowboys did. They earned a victory. However I have a feeling these two could potentially meet up again in the playoffs. Which holding call? I could potentially see the one on Snee being a legit call. The one on Kevin Boss was terrible IMO. Not only was it not holding, it had nothing to do with the play. The refs could call holding on most plays, but they should only do so when it has a direct affect on the play.
November 13, 200718 yr Both calls where analyzed...both were deemed holds. Boss' was away from the play but it was obvious...and I agree you could call holding on most plays but to hold away from the ball when the player had no chance of making they play warrants a flag on anyone IMO...all he had to do was get in the way.
