After a very tough loss to Somerset Friday, the players, coaches & cheerleaders from Taylor County met at the 50 yard line with the Somerset faithful, took a knee and ministered to the SHS players. According to my sources at SHS, they even encircled the team, joined hands and prayed together.

 

I've seen this before and it demonstrates the sportsmanship that can occur in high school athletics. Outstanding leadership coaches and players from Taylor County...you are winners in my book!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

The Cardinals have a lot of players who attend Campbellsville Baptist Church which has done tremendous work spreading the gospel in athletic circles. Taylor is not a great team, but they have great young men who wear the sword and shield as well as anyone out there.

I too was very impressed by this, both teams are full of great kids with heart and integrity. I love to see young people today not affraid to show their faith.

This also was held after the Taylor Vs. Jackson Co. game. The young man who led the little service (#2) just brightened the day of may unhappy players. It just goes to show that winning isn't everything or the only thing, how you learn from lessons in life and succeed is!

I wish we could see more of this. It shows there is more important things in life then just wins and loses. Good for Taylor County.

This by far is the most awesome post I have seen this year! I have a senior on the Beechwood team, I always tell him while sports are great and build quality in your life, just remember its just a game! Have fun, cherish the teamates and coaches, but remember, be an example to people you might never know are watching you. God Bless this team and the church that are building the foundations like this in our young men.:thumb:

A similar event took place at the PC and SL game, and the young man from SL gave a really heartfelt speech..i agree it is a wonderful thing to see in are young kids today!!

I hope all is well with the young man that was hurt during the game....

I know and it's great that so many kids are stepping up in their faith. Hats off to the coaches that allow this to take place.

Ministered in what way?

From what I have heard they spoke of the importance of God in their lives and what's most important when it comes to priorities...serving him, doing your best, etc. I didn't hear first hand but it certainly was a high point to the game, regardless of outcome. Both teams played hard and there were seniors knowing that it was their last opportunity to compete on the football field, yet they were total class in sharing their faith with guys they just tried to beat minutes earlier. That's character!!!
