November 11, 200718 yr I usually dont complain about officiating in football unless it is really bad and today in Nashville it was really bad. The non-fumble call was bad but the series of pass interference calls on one drive on third down was bad....Vandy had the ball forever on that drive. Throw in the questionable personal foul penalty where Ashton Cobb lit up the Vandy RB who in just one split second stepped OB...Vandy kept marching. THey missed several blatant holds as well... Big win though.... Also add in, not that it mattered. As the FG was sailing through the uprights, the scoreboard read 0:02. The the official said, "please put the play clock back to 0:04. The crew, wasn't impressive and the fumble, unless forward progress was called, was a fumble. On a related note, Deener harped on that call for 2-3 minutes in the booth.

I just don't understand how they mark forward progress when a guy gets hit spins out of it then is tackled 2-3 yards deeper and they give 'em progress to the original hit. If they don't spin out of it I understand, but several times this year I have seen it where the offensive player breaks lose and still gets the benefit of a poor spot. Ugly game: Vandy kinda makes you play that way, but good win on the road for the cats.

The issue was the ref didn't see the fumble and when the runner went down the ref blew the play dead, thus ending the play despite the fact UK was in the process of recovering what should have been a live ball.
November 11, 200718 yr I wasn't talking about that play. It was obvious the reff didn't see anything on that one. I was questioning some of the spots on Vandy's last drive.

U.K. gets another win on the road in the SEC. :thumb: I am still ticked off that I didn't get to watch/or tape this one. Our wonderful cable company(:rolleyes:Time Warner)in the Ashland.Ky. area did not switch to the game........again:irked: when it was supposed to be shown delayed and they didn't have it listed on any other channel at that time slot.

A couple notes: There might have been 9000 fans in attendance if that game wasn't against UK. What's typical attendance at Vandy games? At the beginning of the season, Little was obviously the easy choice for starting RB. I'm not so sure I'd make that choice right now. Locke has done nothing to show me that he can't be a starting RB. It was cute on the late hit out of bounds (I believe it was either Ashton Cobb or Calvin Harrison) when the entire Vandy fan base chanted "kick him out" in unison. I found that to be very soft, yet humorous. Hopefully the Cats realize that they need to wake from this slumber because this level of playing will not work against UGA or UT. I know they can beat those two teams, but not the way they've been playing lately.
November 11, 200718 yr The Vandy people that work the parking lots, traffic, stadium, etc... were all commenting on this being the largest crowd they have seen outside of a UT game. The stadium only holds 40,000 and it was about 1/2 filled with Big Blue fans. (Not sure if that was evident on TV). Having gone to Nashville several times, I cannot recall a time when the team went down there and played like they should, a team that is a step above Vanderbilt. They got a W and some M (Momentum) going into Georgia and UT. Brooks commented that is was the biggest win of the season. That says a lot for a team that beat a #1 LSU earlier in the year. At this point in the year, the next win is the biggest win. It looks like either the Chik-Fil-A Bowl with a rematch against Clemson or perhaps Outback Bowl against Wisconsin.

I know they can beat those two teams, but not the way they've been playing lately. I would have to disagree. While I think Locke is an outstanding back,I don't think he can take the pounding of a complete game. The one game he started he got hurt. I think using Little or Dixon to wear 'em down the first half and then putting Locke in seems to work the best.
