What if you converted each set of data into a 100 point scale first and then averaged them?

 

For example, in each set of ratings, convert the scale so that the top score (rating) is 100 and figure all the scores below it as a % of that (kind of like grading on the bell curve).

 

Then average each teams weighted score from that conversion.

 

Would that give you a more accurate picture and level the playing field so to speak? (had to get that buzz phrase in there )

Just for fun, I used the same three systems West did. I made the top rated team in each ranking a 100% and the other teams a percentage of the top ranked team. Here are the top 10 for 5A.

It isn't wise to use a percentage basis, especially since two of the rankings systems dip down into negative numbers.

 

All three are point-based systems, so percentages don't necessarily work.

A couple items of interest:

 

1) The gap between the field and Highlands and Bowling Green make a championship matchup seem inevitable.

2) The computers do not like BGP #9 Anderson County.

3) The first round matchup between Dixie and CovCath could go either way, but is the best 5A matchup in the state tonight.

There is good reason for that. Anderson's schedule is rather weak, and some of their wins aren't all that impressive:

 

24-20 over Grant County

20-14 over Jeffersontown

21-7 over Bullitt Central

 

Those wins don't match up well with the better teams in 5A ...

 

Lone Oak's soft schedule has been a big topic of discussion. Massey rates Anderson's schedule even lower.

West, looks like you need to make a few corrections...swap SClark & Russellville in

3a, Holmes & BStation in 5a and HClay & Male in 6a...At least thats the way it reads according to the #s you presented...
