November 7, 200718 yr The whole asterisk stuff is a load of crap. So they got caught filming ONE opponent's sidelines...does that mean that EVERY game should be tainted over that one game? IMO it should NOT. I actually want to see the Patriots go undefeated because I think it would be really neat to see something like that happen. If they do then great, if they don't then oh well.
November 7, 200718 yr I'm just curious as to what logic is being applied by all the people who truly feel like the Steelers will beat New England. Aside from being a Pittsburgh fan or a Patriot hater, there is no real reason to expect Pittsburgh to beat them. Is it just an odds thing...the odds are the Patriots will lose at least one, so you're betting on Pittsburgh, or what? I mean seriously...if you want to analyze the game, the Patriots have the advantage almost across the board. QB = check, RB = no, WR = check, OL = check, DL = check, LB = check, Secondary = check... The only advantage Pittsburgh will have is Willie Parker over Laurence Maroney. And the linebackers might be a push. That's it. The Steelers won't have the same success running the ball that Indianapolis had for two reasons...first, the game will be in New England...second, the Patriot defense will be able to focus more on stopping the run because Big Ben can't do the things that Peyton Manning can, so they won't have to fear getting torched through the air. The Patriots typically respond well to teams who try to line up and run right at them. Also, I'm not a big believer in the Steelers secondary...as great as Polamalu is, he's not an elite pass coverage safety. The Patriot receivers will get open and Brady will pick them apart. Pittsburgh won't have an answer... Finally, Pittsburgh is 2-2 on the road this year with losses at Arizona and Denver...hardly the pedigree for a team that's going to roll into Foxboro on December 9 and beat a Patriot team that has won it's first 12 games of the season, mostly in convincing fashion. Keep dreamin' though...it's fun.

Exactly...they're going to win the Super Bowl regardless. You can bank on that. In fact, I'd say the odds of them winning the Super Bowl will become even more favorable if the lose one of those late season games. I fully expect them to go 19-0 this season. The gap between the Patriots and the rest of the league not named Indy is pretty wide...and the Colts chances vanish with the loss of home field. New England is as heavy a favorite to win the Super Bowl as any team I can remember...my memory goes back to '86 when the Giants beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl.
November 7, 200718 yr :thumb:Well said by the good doc . This is comng from a non Steeler fan so it cannot be said that Steelers Fans are ganging up on Coach "Belicheat". The man is a complete Jerk to the press, other coaches and other teams players. They very well could go unbeaten but I honestly look for the Steelers or the NY Giants to get them, possibly both. I certaily hope so and more. Should they have a complete collapse then it couldn't happen to a nicer guy in Belicheat. "Should the Pats go unbeatean then "Belijerk" coud be known as the asterik* coach of the NFL and join MLB's Balco Barry in that fame" :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

November 8, 200718 yr Shula retracts... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3099870 Shula clarifies talk of asterisk next to Pats' accomplishments Hall of Fame coach Don Shula tried to clarify his comments about the effect the "Spygate" scandal would have on any records that may be achieved by this season's New England Patriots. Shula told ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on Thursday that if the Patriots finish with a perfect record to match that of his 1972 Dolphins, then there "shouldn't be any attachment to it," referring to a possible asterisk next to New England's name in the record books. "If they run the table, and they win all the games, then they are doing it within the rules of the National Football League," Shula said. "And there shouldn't be any asterisk to it. That would be the accomplishment that they made. It would be the best in all of sports." Shula also said if New England can finish the season with an unblemished record, the Patriots "will deserve to be called the best team." When asked if he expected Patriots coach Bill Belichick to take his call if New England were to have an undefeated season, Shula said he hoped so. Shula said that he has known both Belichick and his late father for many years, dating back to the elder Belichick's days at the Naval Academy. Shula added that while many times before teams have made a run at his legendary Dolphins team, all comers have fallen short. "If somebody does what we did or does better than we did, I'm going to be the first guy to call that coach and congratulate him," Shula said. "Our players I'm sure will congratulate their players because of the accomplishment. But until someone does it, it's still our record."
November 11, 200718 yr BTW, should NE be 15-0 going into the last week, only those with the NFL Network will see them try for a perfect season.
November 11, 200718 yr ^ why? Saturday night game that just so happens to be on the NFL Network. Also happens to be the game that many have circled as the most likely game for the Pats to fall...
