Good job by Mason to find a way to win. Neal did a real good job running the offense on his first start of many to come. Future looks bright with the young QB. Now the REAL season begins and Mason needs to put it all together and make a push one game at a time. Thompson ran the ball HARD tonight which was great to see. When he hits the hole hard and then uses his vision he is an outstanding back. Keep finishing those runs!!! Pollitt was his usual hard running, blocking, and tackling self. The hit on the INT was a slobberknocker!!!! Now it is for real. File away the previous ten games because now it's win your in, lose you snooze!!! Seniors- this is what you have been training for and dreaming of. By the way a West Carter supporter has called you out on another thread and he said to "bring it freakin on". Most everybody thought so, too. I was one of those lone voices in the wilderness that thought it would be close (I predicted a 7-point win for MC). This was based on two things - lackluster play the week before by MC; and knowing that a freshman QB would be starting - something you don't plaster all over a message board.:sssh:

 

Congratulations to both teams - to Mason for pulling out the win; and to Greenup for having the guts to go for the win. Good luck to both teams next week in the playoffs.

Sometimes the defense comes up and makes a big HIT, causing a fumble, etc. etc. and that then fires up the offense. See what I mean? I'm not making any excuses, just seems like there has been some adversity the past two weeks that have caught Coach B and his team off guard and those are things you simply don't see coming.

Key word there, 'experience'. I think Pawsat did very well in his first start and if the defense tightens up I see the Royals making some noise in the playoffs. Coach B knows there are no second-chances in the playoffs and I am confident he has imbedded that fact in his players' minds. And, on the defensive side of the ball, it hurt not having Cox out there as he is a major force on the defense too.

 

The good thing is that we have a week to prepare and work on the things that need improving and make adjustments for positions where players are out injured.

What happened to the Greenup Co. Kicker, Reed?

 

Morning Newspaper said they lost their kicker at halftime!!!!!!!!!!

 

I heard the same thing about he quit or something at halftime. WOW!!! Didn't they score last in regulation & the kick failed? If indeed he did quit on his teammates and they could have won the game in regulation had he been there to kick it would be a tough pill for me to swallow as a player. It also potentially changes the overtime strategy because you have confidence in your kicker to send it to another OT at home.

All regulation points were scored in the 1st half -- tied 27-27. There were no points scored in the 2nd half.

Congrats to Mason! It was a hard fought game, neither team wanting to give up. Both teams gave all they had, but in the end you persevered.

What trophy? My understanding is there is no regular season district champ. The regular season determines seeding but there is no trophy awarded until after the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Was that a KHSAA trophy or one that the school presented the team? As I said, my understanding was that the KHSAA was not acknowledging a regular season champ or runner-up. The district champ & runner-up are to be decided after the second round of the playoffs and the trophies will be presented at that time.
