Bell's d-line coaches have done a great job this year. Bell's 4 up front are led by seniors Shawn Henderson & Christian Mason, junior Tyler Harbin and sophoromore Billy Lawson. They, along with the rest of the defense, may be the unsung heros of this Bell County Football team.

 

As shown in the picture below, they will get in your face in a hurry. Here's a picture of 3 of them from Friday night. #70 Shawn Henderson has the QB wrapped up, while #34 has a hand up ready to deflect the pass with #67 Billy Lawson coming in to help.

It's ironic, as the Tates Creek buses pulled into Log Mountain in '99 the fans yelled the same things. It felt good leaving with a win.

 

I've seen both teams play in person. Bell Co. is better but if Tates Creek can limit their turnovers (which has been a year long problem) it will be close. Football is all about matchups TC's strength is upfront and that will prevent a blowout in my opinion.

The coaching staff in 99 was totally different than the 07 staff. Different Head Coach and Assistants! Need not compare those 2.

Do you mean the weaker of the top 3? Or overall? Have you looked at who is in 2A?

I will qualify this.......if Tates Creek hasn't thrown in the towel, I think they have a good chance to beat Bell County. I think Ty Sparks could have a big night, but it bothers me that Ty has run for 300+ yards and the Creekers have been beaten??????

I am agreeing with you on this one Openyon...I think this one will be closer than predicted in this thread. I don't know much about Bell except they have an exceptional coach. Do they have a solid defense? It does help that Creek is on their own field. I have my fingers crossed...

It may have been a good year for Bell Co. to play one of the better Lexington teams such as Henry Clay that has a balanced offensive attack to get a gauge for some weaknesses that may not have been exposed yet. You don't really want to find out come playoff time that you have some flaws that are worse than you thought.

I am very glad that friday is only 4 days away. All doubt will be out the window good or bad.

Its still the 3rd strongest class though. I believe if Bell wanted they could have probably stayed in 3A because of the numbers. I don't believe there is anyone in 3A as good as Bell and Lexington Catholic (the 2 really good teams I know about in 4A).

I'm not saying Rockastle is not a good football team (would be a top 5 team in 1, 2, or 3A). But you have to admit they are plain and simply having a down year. They aren't near as good as they were last year. Now, that could all change and they may click at the right time and finish the season strong. No one from Bell County will overlook them. But to this poin they have been down from the high standard they have set.

The Massey Ratings have Rockcastle Co. as the #15 team in 4A at this point. They would be the #8 ranked team in 3A, #14 in 2A and #8 in 1A.

 

Bell Co. is rated #1 in 4A and Tates Creek is rated #25 in 6A, but would be #12 if they were in 4A..
