Personally, I thought it was a good game. In IMO I thought the ROCK played hard and a good game against Mercer also IMO the score did not show how hard we did play. The ROCK may be a struggling team but when they go to play ball they will give it all they got. It was a good game between both teams.

 

 

Rockcastle fans should be proud of those kids. There is no quit in them. They played hard from opening kick until final horn. This game was not over until the final seconds.

 

I don't know your age break down on the team. But this appeared to be a young team with a brite future.

Have you ever played?! Judging by your question, you haven't or you wouldn't have asked that. Every team, when they are on defense, is taught to try and line a couple/three people or so over the center, to try and knock the complete crap out of him, sometimes even swiping at the ball (even though that is illegal, but so is a facemask, but not all of them get called) to try and cause exactly what happened, when the offense is trying to run the clock out....very seldom does it work, but the other nite, it did. Fortunately enough, the TEAM was still able to get the win.

 

True, I'm sure Lincoln is a lot better now...but, take a wild guess at who else is a lot better now than they were then?!

I did not mean to sound disrespectful to anyone. The ROCK is a very young team in the rebuilding stage and like you said they do have a brite future ahead of them and yes I am very proud of them.

...to add to what I posted above. I didn't want that first question of my previous post to sound disrespectful, honest question, yes, disrespectful no. It just seems like a lot of the times, if kids (and even coaches) happen to make mistakes out on the field of play, that some fans make it sound like they think the kid(s) made the mistake intentionally...at least that's the way it comes across. Every coach and every player, in every game, wish that they had a chance for some "do-overs", knowing that they messed up, they don't screw up intentionally.....SOME fans need to realize that, at Mercer County and everywhere else.

Hey... thanks for the clarification of your post, but none needed. Whether disrespectful or not, I was just asking in a sort of 'flabber-gasted' way of how do you fumble on taking a knee? Didn't mean to get your feathers all ruffled. You seem quick to be defensive, but thats okay. I'm just a fan on here giving my opinions and asking a few questions. Don't even see where you got from my post that I was implying the kids were intentionally making turnovers. So enough of that!!:thumb: Its all good.

 

And yes, I'd say Mercer is a better team now than they were in the beginning of the season. So once again, my post wasn't necessarily neglecting a Titan point, but merely making an observation about Lincoln County.

5 seniors.

I thought Rock played extremely well considering only 15 guys played as opposed to Mercer's Army. I'd say 90 players were dressed. Impressive.

With Rock's starting Qb and WR not playing made it all the more difficult to move the ball. There was no pass threat without our normal gun slinger in the game and his target.

I think they thought they could come in and push Mercer around. They were wrong. It is really hard to run the ball against this Titan D. Rockcastle had one run of about 45 yards, outside of that I doubt they had much over 100 yards of offense. We'll have to wait until the stats come out. They're not available on the Advocate Messenger website yet yet.

 

Rock had over 175 on the ground I know, Mercer had 253 total I believe.

No one who is affiliated with the Rock program thought they were going to go into their house and push them around, they knew it would be a tough game.

Defense was the word last night. I think most people expected a low scoring game, and that's what they got. Both D's played well.

 

Mecer moved the ball better than Rockcastle but the Titans have got to hold on to the football. Mercer probably should have had at least one or two more TDs.

 

I lost count, but I think they fumbled 7 times, with 4 resulting in turnovers. Hopefully someone will have somr real stats sometime today.

 

Remember Mercer didn't have much except that 1 long run that scored. Other than that they had to fight for every yard, probably the reason the fumbled so many times.

Also, remember Rock fumbled inside the 5 to score the first TD, but MC recoverd. Next play Mercer TD, this game could've went either way with a Mercer catching the right breaks and the right time, when Rock didn't take advantage of them. I mean the kicker even hit the upright on the PAT, that would've been 6-6. People don't even know how close of this was, throughout.
