Ashland 33 Greenup Co. 0 (JV)

Nice win for the young Tomcats who were led by Devon Hord who had a big fumble return for a TD and an interception. The future looks bright for the young Tomcats.

Nice game, we only played 5 junior's, due to injuries, mostly sophmores and our freshmen, if that was the Tomcat's freshmen in on the last series, they will be in for the kind of night we suffered, also no class scoring that last td., with 28 seconds left, should of taken a knee, but that's Ashland for you.

I wasn't at the game and that might not have been to classy scoring the last TD but that post of yours didnt have too much class in it if you ask me.

You have to be kidding? If Greenup would have run the ball 3 times on their last possession, the game would have ended! But they decided to sling the ball, got intercepted, giving Ashland 1st and goal, so the ALL Freshman offense went in and RAN the ball into the endzone.

I wasnt at the game but I can see both view points. Good win for the Cats!!!!!!!!!

Good job Tomcats!

Congrats Devon!

Some of you are walking a thin line in this thread, let's stay on the discussion of the game and off of each other.

I have read a lot of posts about the "problems" in Greenup with their athletic programs. I always notice some type of excuse. "only had 5 juniors, players suspended, coaches," etc. Have they ever just lost to a better team?

The first step to fixing a problem is accepting some responsibility for why the problems exist. Once the people of Greenup stop pointing fingers and really start doing the things that other successful programs do they may then turn that place around. Just my opinion.

Good luck to both programs.

Ashland started 5 Jr's, 5 So's, 1 Freshmen on defense.

They started 2 Jr's, 5 So's, and 4 Freshmen on offense.

Good win for the young Tomcats. Ashland football will not be down for long.

By the way, Welcome to BGP Catbacker. :thumb:

your opinion agrees with my opinion :ylsuper: LB

Ashland started 4 Jr's, 6 So's, 1 Freshmen on defense.

Ashland started 2 Jr's, 5 So's, and 4 Freshmen on offense.

So you can see Ashland was pretty young also on both sides of the ball.

Edit to earlier post.

This was JUST a JV game wasn't it?????????????

Yes, I believe it was. But its not "just" JV, IMO, to the kids or the coaches. JV is place where many players develop their skills and prepare to become varsity players. Is the "w" important at this level? Yes, I think so to a certain point and I'll leave it at that. What is insipiring to me is the fact that both teams could play younger players that might contribute to their teams next year.

Dad of a DAWG, I can tell you for sure that there have been several good JV football games between Ashland and Lawrence County that had there been bands and fans there you would have thought it was Friday Night;)

"JUST" a JV game? I question that comment? JV kids should have their time to shine too;)
