Because these are local coaches who know the local tallent. In the State poll that you like to quote, half of those coaches that voted couldn't find Northern Kentucky on a map, much less know who was good and who wasn't.

Then why is Beechwood still 25 and Ryle isn't. Ryle will have a pretty good season but Beechwood is going to be a very talented team. They should be at least second or third behind Cov Cath.:fight:

I am pretty sure Ryle is not ranked in the state pole because, who did they beat in the state, the only teams they beat were in the ninth region. They beat the ninth region too because of the talent was not very good last year. To get in the state poles you have to beat teams in the Lexington and Louisville area. Everyone needs to get off the Ryle bandwagon or your in for a major disappointment this upcoming season when they finish 3rd or 4th behind Cov Cath and Beechwood.:thumb:

Interesting. Remind me again, who did Beechwood and CCH beat at state? Oh yeah, they didn't go because they were knocked out by Ryle. I find Ryle's ranking a bit odd, but then again I'm admittedly not the most subjective person in the world. I guess we'll start to have a clearer picture of things in a few weeks. I'd be more than happy to have 3 or 4 NKY teams ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season, though my preference would be for Ryle to be the highest of them. :thumb::laugh:

Your wrong in the fact that Beechwood did not beat anyone down in Lexington or Louisville. I believe they beat Apollo and Lexington Christian who are both in the top 6 of the state this year. Once again to be ranked down state you have to beat teams in Lexington and Louisville area and Ryle did not thats why they are not in the top 25.

Let's see....Ryle run ruled Beechwood 10-0 in 5 innings and beat them soundly 11-4 in the region last year. Ryle beat Cov Cath 3 out of 4 games.

 

Ryle beat Regional winning Somerset ( a down state team I believe who knocked out Danville and some other competition ) 13- 2 in 5 innings and 13 -6 to win the sectionals...so I think they accomplished a lot more then any other 9th region team last year....and Pat will coach em up the same way this year. Just please, please, please pitch Elliot when you play Ryle, they like those guys that throw over 80.

I believe Ryle lost most of their players last year. I'm not saying that varsity experience matters but it doesn't help when your team has to replace almost every starter from the previous season. For example, look at Beechwood last year. They contended for the region and came All A runner-ups after losing their best graduating class, thus showing that all teams would have to show it on the diamond. But Ryle should not be ranked in front during PRE-season due to no one knowing how well they will handle varsity players and not JV. No, you missed my point. Beechwood beat no one AT state because they did not make it TO state. Ryle did. They obviously had to beat someone of significance to get there, right? In fact, wasn't Beechwood - who beat all these incredible teams - one of them? Look, Beechwood will be very good this year. I'm taking nothing away from them at all. But as of right now, Ryle has scoreboard on them and until that changes, I see no reason to rank Beechwood ahead of them.
