Its going to be a long year, but all we can do is tighten the belt, stiffen the lip and battle. Kragthorpe is cutting the drugees out of his program, trimming the tree and it is barren of fruit right now.

On a brighter note, Carter and Guy got some good quality time in tonight, and Sergio Spencer and Doug Beaumont are beginning to establish themselves in alternative roles. This is a bad defense that cannot make stops when they need to, and put too much pressure on the passing game. Coach K can't be faulted for that.

Thank you! Brohm was quoted in the C-J after the Syracuse loss, saying that when facing adversity a team has 2 choices: crumble or come together and find a way to get stronger (sic). I think he's definitely doing his part. With the experience some of the younger, or less utilized players are getting, we may have a chance of salvaging the season. I'm not saying we will, but I am saying we could.

As to next year, I don't doubt for a minute that Hunter can step in and fulfill his role. Although, I would like to see him getting some experience this year.

Coach K is doing what the best he can, IMO. You have to take steps to discipline your team. We've had some attrition, and things have had to change. Coaching a football team is not a one year deal. Successful season or no, he's always preparing the team for the next game...but also for the future.

I still believe in my CARDS! Hang in there, work hard, and keep your heads up!

Millions of dollars better spent somewhere else. What about non revenue sports that don't have a chance to see these kind of facilities? U of L will not fill up or sell out another 20,000 seats. They had a good thing going. This is not enough to mortgage the house on. Without the ticket sales - tution is going up.

What does this have to do with football? Everything. Football results are bad - you won't sell the 40,000 you have now next year. No tradition of selling out. Come on Louisville - get better and make it up the last half of the season!

Which sports are you thinking of? New track and field complex, new baseball field, new softball stadium, new natatorium, new lacrosse stadium....I'd say that more than a few million have been put into shoring up the facilities for non-revenue sports.

Question, if UK fans can fill Commonwealth when the Cats were doing bad, why can't we expect that UL fans can fill an expanded Papa Johns. RockPride has a very valid point....many UL fans cannot afford season tickets right now, and single game tickets are limited. Expand the stadium. I'd pay $40 for a single game ticket. But I can't afford the requirements for season tickets....not in a million years!

Apples to oranges. Very few people outside the metro Louisville area care enough about the Cards enough to watch their games on TV, let alone buy a ticket. Louisville may be able to draw enough Louisvillians and UL alumni to fill a larger stadium with a top 20 team but there will be many, many empty seats in a 63,000 seat stadium during the down years like thse Cards are having this season.

UK is the state's flagship university and its pool of supporters is much larger that U of L's. I don't see UL ever rivaling UK in fan support.

Probably because the best team that they defeated that year in the regular season was Memphis. And that they had to play in the Liberty Bowl and beat a Boise State program by 4 that at least one UL poster called a "friggen joke."

They were up on what I believe was a #3 ranked Miami team for most of the game until Stefan gets a concussion and Miami makes a great comeback. That was no joke. Boise was undefeated at that point, btw, so if someone calls them a joke, be my guest, but after 11 games they hadn't gotten to the punchline yet.

^ Sure it is...anyways I am 30...I like to think I have a level head, and am football savvy, that said....this "down tick" for Louisville is a glitch, it is not a sign of the future, Tom won't allow otherwise. I am not worried about the future of Louisville football...

Agreed. I'm naturally frustrated, but I'm not operating under the assumption that recent history was just a blip on the radar screen, and this year is the beginning of the end. Things are set up too well for this to be anything more than just a glitch — perhaps just a rocky adjustment period.

While I agree that UK is in no danger of having mass numbers of fans stripped away by UofL, you are discounting the presence of Cardinal fans outside the L'ville Metro area. You'd be surprised at the number of Cardinal fans wearing T-shirts and hats, or sporting license plates or bumper stickers, that I run into in the most unexpected places out in the hinterlands.

My brother and law and his wife and their children are U of L alumni, but numerically speaking, they are a drop in the bucket among gallons of UK fans in eastern Kentucky. Commonwealth Stadium has always offered fans an opportunity to watch a top notch football teams in action. Tennessee, Florida and Alabama have rarely failed to put fans in the seats. When UK fans can go to Commonwealth and watch two outstanding football teams in the same game, it is just gravy.:D
