New flash, westsider ... Deuce called WVU a "Top 5" team, so since they aren't a top 5 team anymore (not even close), I could only assume we were talking about ranking at the time the game was played.

I remember a conversation that was had on this board that said it took more than one year to become a power in college football...I guess that doesn't apply to the SEC....

Louisville's ranking was after they had beaten two crappy teams. WVU's ranking was after they had beaten 3 crappy teams.

Arkansas wasn't ranked when UK beat them. Auburn WAS ranked when USF beat them....

I haven't said a thing about South Florida ... their ranking is just as unjustified as Kentucky's, but I would say they deserve to be ranked ahead of the Wildcats, based on their resume so far this season.

 

Auburn did rebound with a win over Florida ... Arkansas and Louisville don't have anything like that on their resume.

#8 is probably a little too high but I'll take it...

 

The Cats will have plenty of chances the next 3 weeks to prove they belong in the top 10...

 

Let me ask this.....IFF, UK were to lose all 3 will they stay in the Top 25? I don't think that will happen, I think they'll beat USC, get handled by LSU...and the Florida game is a tossup for me. Simply because UF's pass defense might simply be as bad as UL's (j/k, but it is horrible)

I doubt it. They should (unless they're getting blown out), but the polls don't work that way. If they lose all three, I'd rank them around 21, but you can't go on a 3 game losing streak and stay in the polls, even if you lost to the top 3 teams.

So who do you put ahead of UK at this point? A whole bunch of teams who lost to unranked teams?

 

Oregon, South Carolina, Georgia, WVU, VT, Nebraska are the 1 loss teams ranked lower than UK that lost to a ranked team.

 

UK has beaten good enough teams to not be ranked below one loss teams, IMO. After the next 3 games, UK will have either proven they deserve such a high ranking, or they will have fallen.

 

They're ranked appropriately at this point (although almost undoubtedly higher than they will finish the season).

From 1960 through 1989, Arkansas won more than 70% of its games. Although they have struggled more since 1990, they have still managed to appear in 8 bowl games during the past 16 years. Yes, it takes more than one or two years to become a traditional football power but there are not many schools who would not trade the Hogs' football tradition for their own.
