Dare We Dream?

I'm a cautiously optimistic UK fan...I'm always on the football bandwagon, win or lose, so this season has been really sweet. However, I'm well aware that we could play good football and lose 3 straight games. It's really nice to be in this position for once though...it's weird to hear people talking about UK as a serious factor in the SEC.

Awsome stuff, one more win and we are bowl bound and the season has just started! KY has to and I mean has to take care of business on Thursday or the rest of this is just dreams. Great ride so far!

In no way, do I feel that this will be how the situation unravels, but for the UK fans, I want to give us at least something to daydream about until next Thursday:

Imagine that Kentucky breaks the streak against Steve "Superior" and goes into Columbia and exploits a USC defense missing their star LB Brinkley with easily the best offense the Gamecocks have seen all season. Imagine, that the turmoiled QB situation reaches a head and both USC QB's play horribly and help the Cats leave Columbia with a W and a 6-0 record......

Imagine that very Saturday, LSU exploits fully what Auburn and Ole Miss have exposed in the UF armor and beat Florida....

Now imagine... in the ONE game, that even optimistic UK fans have wrote this team off as having no chance, that UK plays with a chip on their shoulder. Imagine this Kentucky team, who enters ranked in the Top 10 thanks to the numerous upsets over the past couple weeks, remembers how it was LSU, with their 42-0 shelling last year in Baton Rouge, that showed these heralded UK Seniors that it was time to turn things around. Imagine that UK shocks LSU and pulls off the victory....

Imagine where we would be in the polls? Imagine where our BCS ranking would be? Imagine the chances of winning the SEC East? Imagine the momentum towards recruiting? Imagine the scene at Commonwealth Stadium?

Have Fun Daydreaming... who knows!?!?

I have been thinking similiar thoughts since we beat FAU! It would be unbelieveable, I would never leave the stadium if we beat LSU!!!

I really hope both UK and LSU win this weekend for several reasons, but here's the two big ones, IMO...

1) The hype for a matchup of an undefeated top ten UK vs. #1 ranked LSU in Commonwealth Stadium would be insane...and it would be really cool to experience that as a UK fan.

2) A win over South Carolina, coupled with a Florida loss would help UK's position in the SEC East tremendously.

Brooks wanted the Cats to be factor in the SEC this season. So far, ... so good! Anything else is gravy!

:thumb: Your post sums it all up. A win over the Gamecocks this Thursday and a lot of the doubts about UK will be be removed. The thing I like most about this UK team is that they seem to be on an even kilter and approaching one game at a time. Hats off to the Senior leadership and coach Brooks for making this happen.

It is a tough thing to be cautious and optimistic at the same time.
