The 1st weekend in October is drawing near... and that means one thing in Johnson County. Apple Day is here! A week long festival that starts this Sunday and runs through next Saturday. There will be plenty of food, fellowship and contests. But they all fall in comparison to the main event! Thats right... The Apple Bowl!!

For years Johnson Central and Painstville have met the Thursday night before the main festival starts (unless there is a scheduling conflict) for the Apple Barrel.

This year, Johnson Central looks to continue there recent dominance in this rivalry game.

Here are some pics of the Apple Barrel.

Will it be a Thursday night game this week as well? Should be another good game between these two local rivals!

I love the barrel! Really cool!

These teams should suspend this series until the Tigers have a shot at winning the game. The game does neither team any good.

I predict a halftime score of 42-0, with a final score of 49-6 as Matney calls the dogs off early again.

The game will be played AT Johnson Central... Thursday October, 4th. Kick-off at 7:30pm

Johnson Central will win this game... by as many as they want!

I watched some of the paintsville/prestonsburg game tonight, and this will be a good game for JC to have after their open week. It will give JC's offense and defense a chance to work on things before they get into some tough games.

JC - 62

Paintsville - 6

JC will win this one handily. I just hope that Shawn Grimm doesnt play this game. I know that he wants to torch Paintsville, but we need he healthy down the stretch. This game is meaningless and another week to heal up will do him and JC good in the long run. This should be a good opportunity for JK to shine in the spotlight, along with Dillon and Richardson in the backfield. JC names the score, by how much will just depend on Coach Matney.

The barrel is cool and I always thought it was special when local rivals have a traveling trophy. UA what does the Paintsville side look like?

Good luck to both teams next Thursday.

It has picture of a tiger on it. The Barrel is a neat little touch to this rivalry.

I just can't believe that a J.C. Alumn just called the Paintsville Johnson Central game "meaningless" LOL

This game is anything but meaningless. I really want Paintsville to win this game but realistically JC will win this game by as many as they want.
