Its only significant if you don't look past the name on the front of the jersey. Neither of these teams deserve top 20 recognition at this point.

What have they done to say otherwise?

As long as you feel the same way about Louisville and Arkansas then I'll buy it. Because none of the teams mentioned have beaten "anyone of significance".

I just feel like there is an unwarranted national love affair with Big Ten football. See last season where everyone was saying how unfair it was that Michigan/OSU wouldn't get to play again for the NC. Kind of ridiculous when we see both teams get smoked in the bowls. So I'm willing to wager that Michigan picks up a couple votes in the AP poll tomorrow.

I disagree entirely. If anything I'd say that it is the exact opposite in recent years. The media darlings are the Pac 10.......hands down. Think about how much you hear about John David Booty, multiply it by 100, and that's what sports shows are like out west.

However, because, like it or not, you probably live closer to Big 10 country than you do SEC country, you hear from more Big 10 supporters. Now I'm sure this year the UK fans will be climbing out of the woodwork, but most years there isn't much to cheer about SEC wise in the general vicinity of the BGP viewing area. Thus, a lot of Big 10 supporters.

Nice to see this group keep fighting after the worst start imaginable...

Agreed. It would have been easy to tank at that point. IMO it says a lot about the leadership.........I'll take 11 of Mike Hart/Jake Long anyday.

That's fair. However, let me ask you this:

You've got your last $100 and you have to bet on the combo of Michigan/Penn State or UL/Arkansas having a better season and viewed by those in the know as being the better combo.

Who are you taking?

I don't necessarily disagree about being ranked, but Michigan needed this win for a confidence boost which makes it a very significant win.

To Michigan.

Not to anyone else.

Strong coaching .

No chance. Like Penn State, UM has beaten no one of significance.

You're tough, cshs. By that reasoning, there are really only 10-12 teams in the entire country that are worthy for anyone to play, because most of the teams up there are overrated in some form or fashion. Look at Wisconsin. So I guess unless you play and beat one of those teams, you're season really isn't worth a hoot? C'mon. Its about the whole year, Penn St. is not a gimme, and this was a good win.

There's a difference between teams that you know are good and teams that have a big name and are not very strong this year.

For example, if USC had beaten no one of significance to date, they're still way up in my rankings because EVERYONE knows they're good.

Penn State, on the other hand, has to PROVE they deserve any credit . They have not and losing to a down Michigan team was completely expected by me.

Penn State is not very good , will only have a decent record due to the B10 being down this year, and might make a bowl game. They'll still be average at best.

I still believe the B10 is a 3-horse race: OSU, UW, Michigan.

That tells us all we need to know about the conference this year.

Very good win for Michigan. They continue to improve and are starting to play very well.

To Michigan.

Not to anyone else.

Which is all that matters...........................

Fine. That was not the argument I was making nor was it the opposite argument that others were making.
