Would you be surprised if I told you that intentional pass interference carries an additonal 15 yards? (Rule 7-5-10, listed under penalty assessments on page 62, 2007 NFHS Fooball Rules.)

Would you be surprised that I've never seen it called? Didn't even know it was a rule and I've seen some blatant PI.

Can you imagine the uproar on BGP if I were to make a call like that in my next game?

While technically correct, it would probably be counter-productive.

Outlawcoach, the TE going over the middle is not that hard to judge regarding blocking or running a pass route. The TE is typically covered by the LB who may try to engage the TE at the line to prevent him getting cleanly into his route. The TE will attempt to get free of the LB by mkaing a move similar to move made by WR's getting free of CB's. If the TE is obviously in his route, and he decides to throw a block on an LB, that would be offensive pass interference. If the TE is a blocker, he is restricted to staying in or behind the neutral zone.

I've seen it called once that I recall. In this case the defensive back was beaten badly by the receiver and he just tackled him to prevent him from catching what was probably a winning TD pass in the final seconds. It was blatantly intentional, but probably saved the game for the defensive team.

What % of refs know this rule exists?

very little, but yes, it's uncommon. Probably the tackling of a elgible receiver would be the one time it would be called. I have not seen this at any level in my games.

One thing to remember, incidental contact is a real thing...... and is not a foul.....

also...can you clarify the illegal man downfield call on screens for me. I think the rule is linemen can be downfield as long as the pass is recieved behind the line of scrimmage. True or False?

True. Cincy St X ran it for a TD against Dematha.

That is correct
