September 16, 200719 yr I've never understood how a team can beat another head to head, play similar schedules, have a similar record and the team that lost be ranked higher. What better gauge to rank teams than head to head play? I don't understand how that works.

The same way that it's hard for a team who is ranked low to climb, it usually takes more than an extremely close game to fall very far.
