August 31, 200719 yr Start a Volleyball facility.... Be a phenomenonal coach.... Surround yourself with phenomenonal staff.... He's an expert, no doubt. Exactly correct Rockmom. You look at any successful athletic program in the state and you will find a big group of dedicated people and coaches who have figured out what it takes to be successful and have taken action to do so.
August 31, 200719 yr It is a big factor . Ive only seen one standing room crowd at NCC and that was in 1997 when my nieces team played Notre Dame . It was a great atmosphere and it persuaded my daughter to play volleyball instead of soccer when she entered high school and I had been coaching her in soccer since she was 6 years old . She played volleyball through college and now helps coach NCC . A standing room only crowd can only help both programs . And the fact that the Rockets head coach owns OVVC and I believe runs KIVA doesn't hurt their program one bit . It only gives the other teams in the state a reason to try harder and to beat Mr Kordes ' teams . To be successful in volleyball you have to play or practice year round . As the JO parents know. Too bad Assumption won . What is OVVC and KIVA? And if those programs have his volleyball players involved in them during the school season but out of volleyball season is that not a violation? I am sure that someone in JCounty has brought this up before and would love to know the answer. I am not allowed to start and run a youth golf program in which my players compete in it at our country club till the summer. I am not allowed to be involved with them during the dead period.

OVC-Ohio Valley Volleyball Center. Located off Poplar Level Road KIVA-Kentucky Indiana Volleyball academy
August 31, 200719 yr OVVC is the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center . It is owned by Kordes and is near the Louisville Zoo. The Louisville Invational tournament will be played there next week . KIVA is the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy Based I believe at OVVC and run by Kordes and no it is not all Assumption girls , it is a JO Club like MAVA , NKJV , SCIVA , NKYVC , etal . If you have been around JO volleyball enough you know this . JO season is in the spring and summer . Believe me if Kordes was doing any thing wrong the other private schools in Louisville and throughout the State would jump on him in a heartbeat . The man you aspire to beat . Success breeeds success .

Suspicious ain't he ?
September 1, 200719 yr No...my daughter's a social butterfly, not an athlete. My guess is that the social part is not a surprise to those that know RockMom.
September 11, 200719 yr Start a Volleyball facility.... Be a phenomenonal coach.... Surround yourself with phenomenonal staff.... He's an expert, no doubt. In football, basketball and baseball I would agree with you.......... But a man running a off season VB academy that just so happens to have the most successful VB program, maybe anywhere is certainly not fair....

But a man running a off season VB academy that just so happens to have the most successful VB program, maybe anywhere is certainly not fair.... If it's not fair in volleyball, why would it be fair in football, basketball or baseball?

As long as he stays within the rules then there should be no complaints . I guess If he is successful then he must be cheating somehow, I can't believe that I'm defending Kordes !!
September 11, 200719 yr KIVA accepts players from any high school that want to compete and become better players. MAVA, also based in Louisville, is another premier JO club team that has won national titles. Both KIVA and MAVA have increased the quality of volleyball in Louisville. Between Assumption, Mercy and Sacred Heart, Louisville has 3 of the top 20 HS volleyball teams in the country. These clubs have also improved the level of play at other Louisville high schools including Presentation, Holy Cross and many of the public schools including Butler and Manual. So the success of these club programs benefits the community as a whole. Although I am glad to see Assumption's reign over Ky volleyball put in doubt, I don't see how anyone can be critical of Kordes' commitment to the Louisville volleyball community.

The KHSAA did investigate this matter and found no wrong doing. He coaches these girls before they reach high school.
September 11, 200719 yr Suspicious ain't he ? Have no clue as I don't know the man and my knowledge of the situation is just what has been said here. If there is a way to do it legally, I would like to know the way so I can do it with my junior golfers.
