August 28, 200719 yr That's because they have to categorize it as something. Only Mr. Wilson knows if it was or not. Does this sound at all like a former Terrell Owens story? What are you supposed to classify it as if a guy cuts his wrists and ODs on pills?
August 28, 200719 yr I guess being rich, famous, dating mega Hollywood hotties and partying everynight is a bit of a downer... One would think NOT ,BUT
August 28, 200719 yr Author Money and fame aren't the answer to all of your problems. I've tried having no money and no fame. I'd like to give the money and fame a try and see which one is better.
August 29, 200719 yr FoxNews reported that there was a possibility that it could have been triggered by his breakup with actress Kate Hudson, or so they had heard.
August 29, 200719 yr As a Mental Health Counselor, I will try to explain "attempted suicide". A person usually has not come out and asked for help, instead, they have acted differently. They are usually too proud or feel as though people will think less of them to ask for the help. (To me, it takes a strong person to ask for the help). Anyway, after a time, the person feels as though they need to do something drastic to get the attention...help...that they need or want. They usually don't really want to die at this point. So, they "attempt suicide" in hopes that someone will notice and save them before death comes. Where the problem comes in is this....usually, when a person has attempted it once, it becomes easier to do again, and sometimes, again. This is where the death usually comes in. The reason why they would try again is because they did not get the help that was needed, nor, did they have a support system. There are other times when the person sees how easy it was to "attempt suicide", so, the next time they are brave enough to go ahead and go through with it. All in all, you all are correct, attempted suicide was not a means for death for this person, just a cry for help.
August 29, 200719 yr As a mental health professional, I'm a little shocked that people are making a joke about something like this. Depression, or any mental illness for that matter, doesn't care how rich you are, or how popular you are. I feel for him and hope he gets the care he needs. As a "mental health professional", I am sure that you have learned that people make light of a horrible situation to deal with it. Maybe some of these people have had someone they care about to have been a victim of suicide. Or, maybe they really did not understand how a person "attempts" it without death. I don't think anyone on here was making a joke out of this situation.
August 29, 200719 yr Author I feel terrible about this whole situation. I'm a really big fan of Owen Wilson and I just hope he's okay.
