West Ky Small/Big School Rankings

Featured Replies

With the new alignments, it'll be a little different look to ranking the region/area....Last year, we ranked the teams by region, using 1a and 2a district 1 and 2 in the small schools and 3a and 4a district 1 and 2 for the big schools... With the new 6 class system and the change in the playoff format, teams in D2 don't necessarily play D1 and D2, for example, In 1a is the Louisville area and not really considered Western Ky, imo.. Same for 6a...So, heres the way I propose we do it... We will rank the small class as West ky teams in 1a,2a and 3a, regardless of district, if we deem them a WkY team...We'll use W.Ky teams in 4a,5a and 6a to gauge our big schools. After reviewing the realigned system, heres the teams I think should be considered for small and big schools...

Small Schools: Ballard Memorial, Crittenden Co, Fulton City, Fulton Co., Mayfield, Caldwell Co., Trigg Co, Heath, Murray, Reidland, Ft Campbell, Hancock Co, Owens Catholic, Todd Central, McLean Co, Muhlenberg South, Tilghman, Union Co, Webster Co., Russellville, Hart Co, Adair Co, Butler Co, Edmonson Co. --- 24 total teams

Big Schools : Calloway Co, Hopkins Central, Lone Oak, Muhlenburg North, Allen Co-Scottsville, F.Simpson, Logan Co, Warren East, Christian Co, Hopkinsville, Ohio Co, Owensboro Sr, B.Green, Warren Central, Greenwood, Apollo, Daviess Co, Graves Co, Henderson Co, Madisonville, Marshall Co., Barren Co, Grayson Co --- 23 total teams

Based on these teams, lets hear everyone's week 0 Top 10... I'll compile the results every Tuesday night at 8:00 throughout the season and poll the new rankings every week, so, please be sure to vote prior to 8:00 CST on tuesdays....

Just wondering why 2A district 3 got left out of the mix? I first thought it was because those teams may be too far east, however I noticed that you included Adair Co. which happens to be farther east than any team in 2A D3. You also include Barren Co. but no Glasgow?…not really a big deal at all, but it does have me wondering what the thinking behind it is….

I'd say go ahead and get every team that was traditionally in region 1 under the 4 class system.

That’s what I thought, but I hated to crash a party I wasn't invited to...:D

What I did was look at all the teams in D1 and D2 and took all the ones who were in last years D1 and D2 and excluded several teams because of geography that wasn't in there last year, like all the 1a D2 teams like Holy Cross, Bethlehem, etc..Was kinda hard to include teams from the L'Ville area and call them a western team... I really didn't even look at teams in the D3 area...I pretty much cut it off at BGreen, unless they were included last year and still in D2...To me, if you're going to add Glasgow, then you have to add Metcalfe and then Green Co, then Monroe Co. and then Ft Knox, etc, etc, etc...Gotta cut it off somewhere...
