First, speaking of life after the second coming, Isaiah wrote this...

 

Isaiah 65:21, 22 They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit...and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

 

That would suggest that we will continue to live and do things that we have done in this life.

 

 

Why do you think that Isaiah 65 (often referred to as Trito-Isaiah) refers to the 2nd coming of Jesus? Most Bible Scholars believe this part of Isaiah was written and speaking about the restoration of the exiles returning from Babylon and rebuiling the Promised Land.

 

I'm not saying the metaphor can't apply to the 2nd coming but I think it's first purpose is related to the return of the Exiles.

I want to go there, but I'm in no hurry to arrive there.

 

I also want to take as many folks I can with me.

 

I'm very curious about heaven.

I was on my deck Saturday noticing some brown spots on my lawn when a common June Bug flew by. I began to comtemplate the life of the beetle. It begins as a grubb, living underground in the dark and damp, eating the roots of my grass and moving only a few inches. When it transforms into a beetle, it comes above ground into the daylight, is able to fly, and can explore many acres while airborne. If the lowly beetle can experience this type of contrast, can Heaven be anything short of spectacular for us?

What does the Jehovah Witness believe about Heaven? Don't they believe that Heaven will be here on Earth once Jesus returns. I'm not sure but seems like they may be the case. Maybe someone can share what other religions like JW and the Mormons believe Heaven will be like.

Mormons do not believe in Hell, per se. They teach that there are 3 kingdoms, the "Celestial Kingdom," which is reserved for only Mormons who have followed the teachings of Joseph Smith during life. The Celestial Kingdom is described in more particularity in "The Pearl of Great Price," and does include their inheritance of multiple wives and also ownership of their own planets. If you are a Mormon woman and did not marry in life, you cannot come there.

 

I am NOT making this up.

 

Next, Mormons believe in the "Terrestrial Kingdom," which is a secondary level of Heaven described as a dimmer light but still a pleasant place, reserved for non-Mormons who have led a good life.

 

Finally, heretic-Mormons and lifelong evildoers are banished to a third level of Heaven, the "Telestial Kingdom," which is described as a very dim place with almost no light, almost totally separated from God. Of course, you are not burning in the river of fire like I believe, so I guess the punishment is comparatively acceptable.

Why is this any more foolish than other religous beliefs?

Some believe it's a sin to eat meat on Fridays

 

Some believe it's a sin to eat meat at all

 

Some believe it's a sin to eat pork.

 

Some believe it's a sin to eat beef because cows are sacred.

 

Some believe it's a sin to mix meat and dairy products.

 

IMVHO if any religion is examined there are beliefs within them all that could be described as "foolish" by a non-practicioner.

I agree there are a lot of bizarre religious beliefs. Having attended more Baptist churches than other denominations, I have heard the Mormon religion labeled as a "cult" in most of the churches I have attended. (That is not my label, but most of the preachers I have heard). Having a President who is a member of a cult , though, couldn't be anymore disturbing as what has taken place over the last 6 years.

 

In all fairness, I know a number of very nice Mormon folk who I call friends. Some strange beliefs , though.

I imagine that many of those churches that consider the Church of the Latter Day Saints a cult also considered the church of our thirty-fifth president a cult.

I have a lengthy, lengthy experience with the Mormons. I call a large number of them friends, some of them close friends. As a religion, I have not encountered one that is more dedicated, family-friendly, or marked by achievement.

 

I also believe they are a cult, and their inner belief systems I consider bizarre.

Heck no. You could search your entire life for the perfect June bug, and it would not be a wasted life.
