Imagine - John Lennon

Featured Replies

If you think Imagine is dumb, please don't listen to Revolution No. 9 or The Word by The Beatles. I am a big fan but those two could be deleted and believe me, the legend and music would live on.

If you play revolution no. 9 backwards when It says #9 #9 #9 it says Turn me on Dead man...:creepy:

BTW That was Done by John and Yucko...:D

I am the Walrus is a great song to anaylze too.

Yea I love that song...It has the verse 'Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye...Thats shocking coming from the Fab Four...:thumb:

Bill Hicks once said:

We all live in a yellow submarine??? Do you have any idea how high they were? They had to pull Ringo off the ceiling with a rake to sing that song.

When questioned about it years later, they claimed there were no hidden meanings. They said it was just words that came to them....with alittle help, I'd say.

Lennon's childhood friend and former fellow member of the Quarrymen Peter Shotton was visiting, and he asked Shotton about a silly playground nursery rhyme that they used to sing when they were kids.

Shotton remembered the words:

"Yellow matter custard, green slop pie,

All mixed together with a dead dog's eye,

Slap it on a butty, ten foot thick,

Then wash it all down with a cup of cold sick".

John Lennon wrote a dumb song because he was inspired by Forrest Gump.

"#9,#9,#9,#9,#9..."

We've already had one man in history who tried to read too much into the Beatles music...and I IMAGINE the world would have been better off without him...Lennon was an idealist and a pacifist...just enjoy the music for what it is...great music by a great band...one of which we will never see the like again.
