Best Offense In NKY?

Featured Replies

Have gone to camps of Dixie, Cov Cath, and Beechwood this summer. Although it is just run throughs at this point, I have to give the nod to the Tigers. There conditioning, is far superior to the other two, Cov Cath will catch up and Dixie as usual will not hit there game speed untill 4-6 games into the season. Thank the coach for that, light drills and no 2 a days will make for long second halves early on. As far as size goes again Beechwood, the O and D lines are monsters! I think coach Rash is being generous with his posted weights and they run with the lbackers. Cov Caths Brent Buckley is the cream! He will win games for the Colonels, lots of them. Saw Dixie in the inner school O Drills, looked ok, no RBs so hard to tell. Thought QB made some bad throwing errors, complete, but he wont get away with it in there division routes looked crisp.

Good luck to all the boys!

As to the part of your post that I bolded, I can only say WOW! Beechwood has always had big linemen, but have they have always been, how do I say this nicely, slow. Either things have dramatically changed at Beechwood or else your lbers aren't too fast either:banana:. Looking forward to watching them when Beechwood scrimmages Highlands in the near future.

Dont have a dog in the 1a fight leatherneck, retired with too much time on my hands! Just calling it as I see it, all but one of the Linemen(when is the last time you saw a quick 300 lbs nose man) are drilling with the 2nd level skill players as far as running goes, and not in the rear of the pack! I know fast and there that. "THEY'RE REAL AND THEY'RE SPECTACULAR" to quote a Sienfeld episode. See you on the 10th

That's impressive. Looking forward to seeing them. With Bankemper back, the Tigers should be very good this year, particularly running behind those guys. Sounds like they'll give Highlands inexperienced O and D linemen quite a challenge in the scrimmage. Last year the Tigers were very slow and Highlands used their quickness to run through them and around them. The Tigers must have gotten a whole lot quicker during the off season.

And I've never seen a quick 300 pounder, and that includes in the pros. I've seen players quick for being 300 pounds, but I've never seen a quick 300 pounder. Sort of like J Lo. He's quick as a qb for being 270, but he's not quick:laugh:

All I can say is while I think Beechwood will be very good this year......and will win their district easily............and will be my pick for the Class A title ......there ain't no way in this life or in any other that they will be better than the 1997 Beechwood team.

There will always be arguments which Beechwood team was the best as they were all very unique in their own way. The best was the team who never won a state championship, 1983!

As to wondering about the quickness of the team this yr and the HHS faithful commenting on how slow they always are, well, who doesn't look slow against HHS?

Actually I wish I hadn't posted that comment as I don't like posting critical commments about kids. My apologies to the Tigers current and past.

In any event, it sure sounds like Beechwood is loaded this year, I wish them the best of luck and hope they win state. Other than the Birds, they are my favorite team to cheer for because they are a parallel school with Highlands: great community, public school with a Catholic high school rival nearby, great academics and great athletics.

First of all ,I did not chastise anyone .Second ,I made no statement saying Dixie was not or will not be a very good team this year .They may have the best offense in the country for all I know .Therefore I made no statement how well they will do .I do not know how many of anything they have .

I was referring to his ( not yours )comment about Beechwood not having as good of a offense as in the past .I simply relayed a qoute from a coach .

While I agree with you about a coach speaking highly of his team ,he should .This coach was very clear ,not saying will be good ,but saying this COULD BE THE BEST "AT BEECHWOOD",which would make it a very good one .

Before you say we'll see when they play this year ,Dixie should beat Beechwood .They are a 5A or 6A school ( forgot which ,big no matter) and Beechwood is a 1A school .

Have a nice day and best of luck and health to the Colonels this year .I hope some school from every class brings home the state title this year and every year .

I'd have to see them. The '97 Beechies were defending state champs and had all of the pieces. '91 was voted by the Enquirer as one of the Top 10 teams in NKY history.

They haven't always been slow. I played against a few big ones that were very quick. Wayne Holderman, Cam Demerle, and Dan Wooley were the one's I played against. They were very good.

Good point. Bad generalization by me.
