The 15U OBC patriots have won their first three bracket games beating the Dallas tarheels, CIA Bounce (Canada) and Philadelphia Playaz. They play in the final four tomorrow against the GC Ballers (Canada), if they win they play either the DC Assault or Memphis M33M Magic (aka Memphis belview tigers) in the finals;

Arrez has been very good. He has battled through a couple of nagging injuries during the AAU season.

 

The biggest improvements in Arrez has been his ability to dominate the defensive end. At some point during his high school season last year he decided to really work on the defensive end and became a stopper (ask Ty Profit). He is one of the better defenders in the state in my opinion. He can guard any position on the floor.

 

Arrez has really improved his jump shot. He puts a highlight tape together everytime he takes the floor with his ability to jump out of the gym. He gets off of his feet so quickly. Some of the most amazing dunks I have seen from a 6'0 player.

 

Arrez will be the front runner for the POY in the 9th region. He will battle his teammate Nic Simpson for the honor.

Excellent analysis and thanks for the updates. If Arrez can develop a consistent jumper he will take POY. It will be a nightmare for any offensive player next year in the 9th region who has him waiting for him on the defensive end.

I agree, Henderson has some of the quickest hops of any player I've seen this year, amazing at what he gets done in the paint at 6'0

Why did the Shining Star teams play last year and this year in the AAU Showcase and National Tournament, and not in Vegas & LA where the really high profile teams are?

The NOrthern Kentucky Jazz are playing in the 17U Vegas Tournament. Kids on that roster include Corey Sorrell HC, Luke Mace-Dixie, Matt Roberts (Moeller), Drew Simons,Michael Eaton Highlands, Kendall=Dixie.Geisler NCC, Craddock- Lloyd, probably missing a few. I thnk they played in a Myrtle Beach tourney last weekend.

Why did the Shining Star teams play last year and this year in the AAU Showcase and National Tournament, and not in Vegas & LA where the really high profile teams are?

We sent a couple of our teams out to Vegas last year and didn't feel as if we got as much out of it as we did in Orlando.

 

All of these tourneys are great events and present a lot of exposure for the kids attending.

 

We will probably send some of our 16u teams on the Vegas and LA trips in the future, but will continue to send our 17u teams to Orlando. The Orlando trips have been a great success for our Ohio and Kentucky teams.

The Shining Star Sports team finishes 4 wins and 2 losses for the tourney. They lose by two in the elite 8 of the bracket.

 

Two of the Shining Star Sports teams from Ohio are now in the final four. If they both win this evening they will play for the Silver bracket championship tomorrow at 10am.

 

To this point the Shining Star teams have 14 wins and 4 losses. Nice showing by the S3 teams.
