July 6, 200719 yr Just got back from Myrtle with my family. We ate at Bennet's Calabash. The seafood was great there. I loved the flounder and the tilapa' (sp?). The weather was wonderful. I was surprised that so many hotels had vacancy signs out. It wasn't as crowded as I remember and everyone in our group had a great time. Hope your family has a safe and enjoyabe trip, TGF. One tip: leave early. Some in our group left at 4 a.m. and some left at 6 a.m. Those two hours definitely made a difference in the travel time and traffic.
July 6, 200719 yr Family, Of course that's my wife and my 19 and 21 year old son's. Getting seated this time of year at many of the previously mentioned places is a trick, but all are worth the wait. A small party obviously stands a better chance of a short (less than 45 minutes) wait. One seafood place I haven't seen listed was Sea Captain's House. It was absolutely great 20 years ago, any word these days?
July 6, 200719 yr Author I searched Sea CAptains House and found some really good reviews for it. If we go there I'll let you know.

July 6, 200719 yr We were there last week. The weather was perfect, but the seafood was even better! Our favorites: Sea Captain’s House (Myrtle Beach about 30th street on the beach) Key West Grill (Broadway at the beach) The Crab House (Barefoot Landing) My personal favorites: The Bonefish Grill (north toward Cherry Grove) Coleman’s old original (in Calabash, NC – down by the docks) Also, Drunken Jack’s is very good, but we didn’t go that far south this year. Enjoy!
July 7, 200719 yr When we stay at the Camalot by the Sea resort there is a restaurant next door called Bumz. Live band and pretty good food, great atmosphere. Also right around the corner from there is a restaurant with a bunch of license plates over their walls that I don't know the name of but again good food. Another is Margaritaville at Broadway on the Beach http://www.margaritavillemyrtlebeach.com/index.htm. Our family are not fish eaters so these do well for us and great atmosphere as well for kids.
July 7, 200719 yr You can't go wrong with the Sea Captains House at Myrtle Beach or Drunken Jacks at Murrells Inlet.
July 8, 200719 yr You can't go wrong with the Sea Captains House at Myrtle Beach or Drunken Jacks at Murrells Inlet. Nice to see the Sea Captain's House getting some ink. :thumb: Glad some other folks have found it as good as I did.
July 8, 200719 yr I searched Sea CAptains House and found some really good reviews for it. If we go there I'll let you know. I hope you give it a try. It is what it is, a converted house with great seafood, oh and maybe the best view of any restaurant on the Strand, if you get seated in the right place. Let me know if you do eat there.
July 9, 200719 yr Benjamins is definitely the best seafood in the area. Creek Ratz in Murrills inlet is an awesome little bar. Good food and great atmosphere.
