June 17, 200719 yr I thought we could keep all the offseason NBA news in it's own thread. Like trades, rumors & such. Starbury would welcome Kobe Stephon Marbury opened his arms to Kobe Bryant becoming a Knick. It is believed the Lakers would ship Bryant to the Eastern Conference, and the Bulls and Knicks appear to be his preferences. Isiah Thomas said he will keep Eddy Curry out of any offer, but David Lee, Channing Frye and Jamal Crawford would be on the table. Kobe-to-Bulls not done deal For now, the Bulls are working under the assumption the Lakers have no desire to deal their nine-time All-Star guard. That stance is supported by a statement Jerry Buss released two weeks ago. Should Lakers management change its mind and pursue trade options, the Bulls, like any NBA team, would have interest. But depleting the roster of multiple assets like Luol Deng and Ben Gordon to match Bryant's $19.5 million salary likely would give general manager John Paxson pause. Popovich buys retirement plot? Gregg Popovich recently bought 47 acres of land in Vermont, where he plans to build a home. He's not happy the news got out; credit the Bennington Banner for that. But it's not as if he's going to turn into Bob Newhart overnight. Suffice it to say that the first shovel will hit the ground when Tim Duncan walks out that door, never to return. And that won't be for a while, which is good news for Popovich and the folks in San Antonio, and bad news for everyone else. Grant Hill may wind up out West Reports claim Grant Hill is considering the Suns as his next playing site. I also hear the Lakers are a real option. http://fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/nba?cnn=yes
June 18, 200719 yr The offseason is a sight for sore eyes. It's really shaping up to be one of the best/most interesting in recent memory.
June 18, 200719 yr Kobe leaves the Lakers and Grant needs to take the Lakers off the board. Suns would be a great fit for him especially if they trade Marion.
June 18, 200719 yr Author Kobe leaves the Lakers and Grant needs to take the Lakers off the board. Suns would be a great fit for him especially if they trade Marion. I'm not sure Grant could keep up with them especially if he has any more knee surgeries.
June 18, 200719 yr I can see the headlines now, Kobe to the Knicks for Lee, Frye and Crawford. That could cause another OJ like riot.
June 18, 200719 yr Author Don't forget Shaq's new reality show... Some type of "boot camp" for overweight kids, right?
June 18, 200719 yr Some type of "boot camp" for overweight kids, right? You got it. But he did say that it's not about losing weight, it's about saving lives.
June 18, 200719 yr I think this is the summer that Kevin Garnett needs to be traded! He has been really loyal to Minnesota, now he deserves an opportunity to go to a team that can compete for a title.
June 19, 200719 yr I think this is the summer that Kevin Garnett needs to be traded! He has been really loyal to Minnesota, now he deserves an opportunity to go to a team that can compete for a title. Imagine a new look NBA next season with Kobe in Chicago and KG in NY. Oh the possibilities!
June 19, 200719 yr Does Kobe have the ability to approve the trade? If not, what about a Minnesota package that sends KG to the Lakers. Jim Rome had a good point today. Lakers may be stuck in needing to get a star name back from a trade for Kobe. Not sure the package from the Bulls that has been bandied about would do that. A Dirk. A KG. A McGrady. Can't really think of anyone in the East.
June 19, 200719 yr I hope Kobe goes to the Knicks or Bulls...I hate the Lakers and would love nothing more than to see them trade the games best player.

It would be tough for me rooting for the Bulls with Kobe, but I'm pretty sure I can do it.
