July 7, 200719 yr Author Second overall draft choice Kevin Durant (left) missed 12 of 17 shots in his summer league debut Friday night. Top pick Greg Oden picked up 10 fouls in his opener. Welcome to the NBA, fellas. Enjoy your summers. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&id=2928454 Debut review: Oden outing much fouler than Durant's LAS VEGAS -- Kevin Durant struggled. But compared to Greg Oden, he was marvelous. Oden received a rude welcome to the NBA in his professional debut Thursday night, committing 10 personal fouls and four turnovers while scoring just six points in Portland's 74-66 loss to Boston on the opening day of the NBA's Las Vegas summer league. "I didn't play too well. I didn't play hard enough, and when you don't play hard you don't win," Oden said. Durant missed his first five shots but began to find his touch in the second quarter and finished with a team-high 18 points in his first game for the Seattle SuperSonics, a 77-66 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Durant finished 5-for-17 from the field, including 1-for-4 from 3-point range, and 7-for-9 at the line with just one rebound and no assists -- the latter numbers illustrating how the No. 2 pick in last month's draft did not have a particularly active performance...... "I think I played in the post pretty well," Durant said. "I think I played defense pretty well. There's a lot I can do to get better, but altogether I think it was a good day."
July 7, 200719 yr Heard where Durant said the speed of the game was not what he was used to. Don't hear that admitted too often.
July 7, 200719 yr Apparently Oden fouled out of his first summer league game yesterday. But the real humor here is found when you discover that in summer league play, 10 fouls are permitted per player. Trying to block every shot at this level isn't going to work out.

July 7, 200719 yr David Lee reportedly could be one of the players the Knicks would offer in deal to aquire Ron Artest. I realize Ron Ron is from the area, but that is one of the most ludicrous things I've heard lately.
July 9, 200719 yr Author Some other teams have signed their new draft picks. The Houston Rockets signed the No. 26 pick of this past draft, Oregon point guard Aaron Brooks, to a guaranteed two-year deal. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have signed the No. 29 pick from the draft, Alando Tucker, to a guaranteed two-year deal as well. Tucker was a First-Team All-American forward and Big 10 Player of the Year at Wisconsin. http://www.nba.com/transactions/movement2007_index.html
July 9, 200719 yr I think this is a bit ridiculous. We're 2 games into the summer leagues and people are knocking Oden for "not showing a sense of urgency." Oden doesn't deny it, either. When asked what Portland coaches are telling him he needs to improve immediately, he volunteered his No. 1 trouble spot without hesitation. "Just get a sense of urgency," Oden said. On the bright side, Oden only committed 9 fouls last night. That included one technical for hanging on the rim too long.

July 11, 200719 yr The Blazers bought out Steve Francis' contract for $30 mil. over two years. What's that like if you're Francis? "Here, please please please taken $30 million dollars. Just stay away from our team. Don't even get Oden's email."
